Add PC West's Tyler Neal to the list of possible spring signees

Fields is a legit 6'7 to 6'8 guy. The biggest thing about Neal is will he be quick enough and strong enough to hang with 4s in this league. you have to be both.

Is he talented enough? I just don't like comparing a kid that I can't even find a recruiting profile on to Ryan Minor, Luke Axtell, and Robbie Hummell.

This board has gotten terrible the last couple of years about the expectations of our incoming recruits. You'd think this year's struggles would have changed a little of that.

I'm not talking about recruiting, I'm talking about defending.

For those who complain about a slow release on his shot, pay attention to what grace says. I went and watched Terrance Jones play a couple weeks back and thought his release was slow also. But, there was no one on the court to challenge his shot....especially from beyond the arc.

And no, I'm not comparing the two beyond that observation.

Neal is not going to be creating his own shot anyways if he's a shooter. If he's going to get a shot it's going to be off ball reversal or someone's penitration. Breaking down his offensive game is not where it's at. We've got a pick and pop foward right now in Fitzgerald. His playing time issues haven't been about his release or his shooting, they've been about his lateral quickness.

I agree totally.

One thing this board should have learned by now is that you can never have too many shooters. If he does other things well, that's even better.

I've thought our problem this year is we have too many shooter. When you have WW, TMG, Tony, Cade, and Pledger all having the green light and no one to hammer the ball inside to or drive to the bucket, it has caused us some offensive problems. We've had games where we've taken 30 3pt attempts. That's bad.

Exactly. You need role players too. And an in-state 4.1 GPA 6'7 kid that is a great outside shooter is a great role player. Reminded me a bit of Luke Axtell.

And role players are big part of what this team is lacking as well.

That's not the players fault. If the perimeter players are not getting the ball inside enough, the coach needs to correct that. My complaint has been that when 'shooter A' was cold on a particular night, Jeff allowed them to keep firing away which ususally resulted in a turnover. If a shooter is cold, there is no reason to keep firing up blanks.

He moves well side to side. If we get him, we need to help a gentleman who is on the end of the bench find a new place to extend his college career and get the max out of his potential.

You don't see this kid being a First Team All-Conference and potential All American like Minor and Hummell?

Didn't Axtell have a pretty average college career (especially give the hype)? I remember he started at Texas and then transferred to KU. Did he play well at KU?

This may have been covered already, but how does he compare to Godbold as far as "ready for a scholarship" is concerend? Because, while Godbold would never be a guy to lead the team to victory, he was always there, seemingly getting better and became an important player as we rebuilt out of the coaching change. A team guy all the way. We can't have a roster full of them and compete in the Big 12, but I'm beginning to realize we need a spot or a few on the roster in order to be a complete team. What we can't have is three stars and take a flyer on a few guys who we aren't sure will put in the work.

Played better at UT than KU.
