Who should OU cut? Should OU cut Carl Blair the back up pg? Should OU cut Tyler Neal the Oklahoma high school player of the year a couple of years ago (that sure would be good for future recruiting)? Should OU cut a starter? Even if you say these kids shouldn't start, surely you believe guys that either led the league in assists, averaged over 10 poits a game or Cam Clark belond on a Big XII roster. Maybe Al thinks OU should cut M'Baye?

The only possible guy to cut is Arent and I see zero reason to cut him. He offers a big body in practice if nothing else and the kid has not done anything wrong. OU gave him a scholarship so unless he screws up he should get to stay on the team. Honestly, I feel that way about every kid OU give a scholarship.

I think Al is way off base. I only see one possible kid to cut and I see no reason to do it.

IF we didn't have two scholarships to give, I'd say maybe. But we aren't going to find more than 1-2 players, at this point, that can come in and contribute next year. As such, there is no real reason to run off Blair or Arent.

Running off Blair would be dumb. The kid is plenty capable of being a backup point. He has two years of D-1 starting experience and another year of significant playing time. If he was asked to play 5-8 minutes a game and not make mistakes I think he could do a good job. Unfortunately he may not be able to play 15+ minutes a game and make a significant contribution on the stat sheet. When he is asked to do that, he makes some mistakes.

I don't think Kruger should run any of these guys off just for the sake of running them off. He seems to always comment that they are all hard workers in practice. And there doesn't seem to be any off court issues.

But, he should sign as many quality basketball players that he can get his hands on during the late signing period. It doesn't matter if they come from HS,JC, or a transfer. How ever many he can come up with over two, that is how many he needs to ship out.

Kruger's job is to win basketball games. He has to do it clean. But, he has to do it. There is one thing we know. He can not do it with this bunch. He proved it. If he wants to go forward with more of the players he likes and fewer of the players Capel liked, he should have the latitude to do that.

Kruger doesn't owe the Caplel leftovers anything. They are here on a year to year deal. And they just had a bad year.

Exactly.I say let Lon run his team and if HE wants to cut someone,so be it.Likewise if he keeps all his current players until their eligibility is up,i hve no problem with that either.

To run off a 12/13 senior would be harsh. Yes we have too many seniors next season but that's Capel's fault, except for Arent. These kids/men are Sooner seniors, and will take that with them thru life. Neal may never really be a starter but he's a good 8,9,10th type and teams need that. Cam is a top 7 or better on most good teams so just add 1 good inside player and tell Al to think before he spews.

I think the Sports Animal should cut Al.

cut arent and add a football player that is not making headway in the rotation. heck, prolly could find a starter lol
but seriously at this point id rather run out the clock and score some graduations on the scoreboard

It's not that I don't agree with Al, I just don't see any point in cutting any player who will be gone after next year anyway.

I would much rather see OU sign two players in April who can come in and contribute right away. If that means we go the JUCO route, so be it. I want to see competition for playing time at every position. No more gift-wrapped spots in our rotation based on tenure. If a starter loses his job to a newcomer, I see that as a good thing.

+1

Al also didn't think about graduation rates as well. That rate actually can hurt a program now with penalties. But Al is really stupid.

[boca]We need to run off Kruger. He's done a terrible job since he got here and shows no promise.[/boca]

Arent is the only guy you can get rid of.

If Kruger were going to get rid of guys on scholarship, he should have done it before this season. He could have gotten rid of Washington, Blair, Honore, or whoever he wanted when he got here. But now that he kept them there is no reason to cut anybody.

Al has been saying Pledger and Fitzgerald are not big 12 calibur players for the past 2 years. He just overeacts. They are both good players. They are not the problem.

Arent barely plays. You could lose him, although I wouldnt. He'll be a senior. I'd actually play him more minutes and just define his role as the big guy who guards the other teams center. Nobody needs to be cut.

The problem is that we don't have enough offensive threats. Teams can concentrate on defending Pledger and Fitzgerald. We don't have enough offensive threats to force our opponents to play honest.
