One of my favorites, Helen O'Connell, admitted that she never went on stage for a performance without being pretty well intoxicated. She sang into her eighties, looking good the whole time, even bought out Four Girls Four. Began with Jimmy Dorsey, same as Sinatra. About the same time. She began at fifteen or sixteen with Dorsey.
