I think he could be a very good player at a low to mid major, but would struggle defensively and getting good looks offensively in the Big 12.

of course we saw w Tweety that a small, savvy guard can get it done in the Big 12. I think he is not nearly on that level though. He is somewhat a product of overhype, imo. Tweety was the leading scorer in HS basketball history so the comparison is not ideal, and as I said I dont think he is nearly that good.

with that said, he did hit a few key 3 pointers and they came back from 12 down to beat us by 1 point. so he can definitely play the game. But we did not have any players ranked in Texas at that point, and only have 2 ranked now. So our team was not at the same level athletically as the athletes he would face at a high D1.

I think a school like WKU (he de-committed from there) would be a great fit. I am not convinced he is athletic enough to be a high D1 PG when I compare him to CJ, Tweety, and other top tier big 12 PG over recent seasons. I watched CJ in HS bc I was living in Austin at the time, and was far more impressed with CJ bc he was a much better and stronger athlete at the same point in time.

Deandre Daniels is the player from that team who will be the prize for whoever lands him. He is an athletic freak and is skilled. He hit 3's and had a put back dunk of a rebound in that game. The latest on Daniels was that he is down to Kansas, Kentucky, Texas, Florida, and Oregon. He is also a Texas de-commit.

I would be interested to know if we are looking at any other PG prospects. It seems like with Walton, Love, and Heslip we could use a bigger, scoring guard (2/3 type) more than a small PG, although AJ will be gone before we know it and a PG is definitely needed in the next 2 classes.

also, in the last game I watched of him Belmont Shore played a team from MS that was very athletic with several good guards...and Belmont Shore got beat down pretty badly (20+ point I believe). the MS team basically had a field day.

It definitely was not just Guerrero, but the athletic guards from MS were certainly a struggle for him to handle. Belmont had a couple of 7 footers, plus Daniels and some athletic wings, and did not have any guards to match up that night.

Sounds like a good backup to Carl Blair while he grows as a player. He still has my vote.

Well if one guy wrote him off, then he surely is no good. It's not like we don't need players with any talent...

I seem to remember some Baylor fans claiming Blake had no skills.

Because Blake was coming here..he was a burger boy

Big difference btwn blake and cezar, and cezar is not even committed to us so his opinion is completely un-biased.....

I do have my reservations about cezar, but the fact is we depserately need a pg and if he is the best available take him...

I like elijah carter alot though

He lost some credibility right here. Kind of sour grapes.

And, is this the same kid that dropped 48 on Mater Dei? You don't score 48 points in 30-some odd minutes unless you have some serious scoring ability.

Is there a jump from high school to a high major school? Sure. Can Guerrero make it? Definitely.

I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but so be it...

I have mentioned one of my concerns with Guerrero is can he play defense?

Another concern I have is will he always look to score, or will he look to help others score? Seems to me at the PG position you want a guy who looks to get everybody else involved and can score when called upon. We had TMG last year who was a scorer, but at times it looked like the TMG show and the rest of the team didn't seem to be as involved.

OK...flame away.

No flaming deserved. Those are ALL legit concerns. I will say this though, I think TMG has us gun-shy. He possessed ALL of those traits and, sheesh, that stunk for our team.

I'm not sure there are a ton of TMGs running around out there. Heck, I'm not sure we've ever had a player "like him" (thank goodness)...

There was a post a few weeks back regarding Guerrero and an analysis done by Jerry Meyer...first thing he mentioned was Cezar as a possible defensive liability. Take it for what it's worth.

To play good cop, Meyer also said that Guerrero's game has progressed and he looked more open to attempt to play defense. Just passing along info.

So we're taking a baylor fan's opinion on a player as gospel?!?!? I guess I missed THAT memo...

He probably would have said the same things about Quannas White, but all Q did was beat the living crap out of baylor, oh about... EVERY TIME he played them....

Yes we have written him off because a random poster on a Baylor website says he's not any good. Pull the offer now!!!

OU needs a point guard that will start, not another backup.

For right now we have Blair as a starter. We need PGs...whether they can start or be a backup. And if Guerrero is nothing more than a backup for us...thats fine. Theres always the next class or the class after that to pickup a starting PG. We need a guy who can more break a press more than a pg who can play solid defense.

Guerrero can do nothing more than help this team. I don't think in any way shape or form he could hurt us...being so late in the recruiting process right now. And if he can't cutt it than he will transfer...just like the kid that transfered to Auburn.

This sounds like the crowd that said Rotnei Clarke and Page would bomb out. The kid can play. Where were these experts when we were signing Naysmith, Willis, Cannon, and Allen.

Disagree, not saying we shouldn't sign Cezar because I think we should considering he is probably the best left. But with that said, defense is our worst half of the floor right now...and that's with one of our better defenders leaving.
