Baylor

Couldn't be at the game tonight. Had to tape it. I had a helluva time not checking in.

Got home and WOW!

That was some in-you-face tough basketball. I haven't seen the OU ladies like that in a long, long time.

Great play by everyone. Absolutely great. No surrender. Loved the way the ladies have started slapping the floor on defensive possessions like the men's team. I agree with Syb, we may have turned a corner tonight.

Just fantastic. Great substitutions and play calling by Sherri. Great defense. What rebounding! And less than 10 turnovers?! Is that a season low!!????

I just cannot say enough positive things about the team tonight.

That was the best game I've seen us play. I think. Period. I don't think any of the final four teams were as tough and good overall as this team was tonight.

Just wonderful. Thank you Sooners!

Which teams in the nation can beat Baylor? I think UConn is the only team that I might favor over Baylor, and I can see Baylor winning that one. I just watched Notre Dame beat Louisville, and it isn't the same team that I have seen in the past few years. They are good, but not at that great level. I just watched South Carolina against UConn and Tennessee. They are probably lucky that Tennessee had lost Harrison. I was stunned when I saw Iowa give Maryland fits. Logic and Disterhof are pretty good.

I could see Baylor being favored over any of them. I don't think Baylor will be seeded higher than they are, but they might be favored.

But, we demonstrated that we can be as good as Baylor. Where does that put us? Who do you think we can't beat?

OU womens basketball: Sooners stun No.3 Baylor

OU’s 68-64 win the first in the series since the 2010 Big 12 Tournament

by Jason Kersey Published: February 25, 2015

NORMAN — The Oklahoma women’s basketball team stunned third-ranked Baylor 68-64 Wednesday night, winning in the series for the first time since the 2010 Big 12 Tournament.

Senior guard Sharane Campbell scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Sooners in both categories.

Baylor sophomore Nina Davis led all scorers with 20 points and added 11 rebounds.

Oklahoma jumped out to an 14-4 lead after six minutes, with four different players scoring over that early stretch.

Baylor, which has already clinched the Big 12 regular-season championship, fought back, and led 62-56 with 3:26 to play, seemingly taking control of the game.

The Sooners, though, finished the game on a 12-2 run to snap a nine-game Baylor winning streak in the series. The loss was the Bears’ first this season in Big 12 Conference play.

With the victory, Oklahoma clinched the No. 2 seed in the Big 12 Tournament, which begins Friday, March 6 in Dallas.

The Sooners return to action Saturday evening against Kansas, then finish the regular season two days later in Stillwater against Bedlam rival Oklahoma State.

OK, let's finish out strong! Beat KU this Saturday, then on to Stillwater to Bedlam!

Just in case know one knows, the Bears are not going undefeated in Big XII play this season. YES!!!:woot

Outstanding performance by all. Solid coaching, and excellent game plan. Proud of how our kids almost dared Baylor to beat them beyond the arc, even though they only attempted 7. In the post game Brian mentioned that we out scored them 22-20 in the lane. We were tough on the boards tonight. Gabbi, Maddie, Gioya and Sharane just flying around for loose rebounds. We didn't shoot the ball all that well, but contested almost all of theirs and played very gritty defense. Excellent win, this will give our gals the confidence they need to proceed on to the tournaments ahead. Their ceiling is very high. I have to give a hand to the officials tonight. Missed some calls, but over all I thought it was a very good officiated game and they let the kids play. Mulkey seemed indeed to be on her team more than the officials, and they kind of ignored her from where I was sitting.

When you read the interviews with Mulkey and Davis, see if you don't get the impression that they were saying that since the conference title was wrapped up, they really didn't approach this game with great intensity.

:facepalm :facepalm

Yeah, and Baylor demands classy behavior from its coaches and athletes, even at the expense of winning.... :D

We are #36 in both the AP and USA polls, behind OSU and Texas. Wonder if this can get us up to #35?

My thoughts exactly! She has taught that team well. They even throw up their hands when a foul is called on them just like she does standing on the court in front of their bench!

This was a really, really fun night in the Lloyd Noble Arena. Great crowd, great performance by the cheer squads, and way beyond great performance by the marvelous OU players and coaching staff.

I'm sorry all of you did not get to be in the arena tonight. Every OU fan deserved to be there.

Go girls go!!!

I couldn't watch the game - - are you saying that Skeletor started screaming and ripping off her clothes? :D

She had on slacks, a white top, and some black jacket/sweater thingee. Her hair was combed and in sort of a Mrs. Brady looking style. No glitter, sequins, or stripper attire. And even on calls that went against her she wasn't her usual self.

Personally, I don't want this one loss by Baylor to prevent them from getting a
number one seed. I know that on Feb.12, they weren't selected as a number one seed; but I felt then and still feel that they should have been. If they aren't, then it would appear that one factor would be that the committee does not consider our conference that strong.

One Shining Moment for OU. And I think we will have a few more Moments before this season is over. This team can play.

Isn't that the truth? I truly wonder what the ceiling is for this team, because from what I've seen, they truly have the chance to beat anyone.

Happy for OU women. It was a huge moment for the program.

This win will effect recruiting, but it will most definitely affect the team persona, and I'm not convinced that OU can't beat anyone.

The best part of this night was that it was done with everyone playing solid, but not sensational basketball. We didn't win because someone had a great shooting night. Everyone shot about like they should on average. Peyton even had a lower than usual shooting percentage. We just didn't have anyone who had a bad game. Nobody played over their head. Indeed, you wonder what might have happened if someone would have had a good game.

We simply established what this team can do if they play up to par. Gioya was 0 for three from three. Gabbi was one for five. Yet, Gioya did what she does very well. She got into the lane. She hit her jumpers and drove to the hoop. She had her five rebounds and four assists. They had their usual games, but nothing spectacular.
