My biggest hope for the last four games is that OU continues to get good point production from the bench.

Frank Booker has averaged 9.66 points in the last three games (10 last night, 5 at KSU and 14 against ISU).

If OU gets consistent production from the bench, they will be very difficult to beat.

Beyond the production of Frank Booker, he has played really well. He has made the extra pass several times lately. Earlier in the season he probably would have shot the ball. I really want to see Walker score in each of the final four games. I would also like to see Lattin score.

Would Hornbeak be a valuable contributor this year?

No because he didn't want to buy into the team. He would have still been upset he wasn't a starter. We are better off without a Cancer like that.

I agree with both of you. Hornbeak with a good attitude with be good for the team. Hornbeak with a bad attitude would be bad for the team.

I know Hornbeak left, which suggests dissatisfaction, but it seemed he played hard and was a good teammate last season. I don't think he necessarily let his frustration affect his play or attitude (not that I know for sure, of course -- maybe he was a downer in the locker room).

Really a moot question. Hornbeak would still be a Sooner if he so desired. He no longer wanted to be here. Best wishes to him as I hope things work out for him. I enjoyed watching him play.

I doubt if anyone here was a bigger Je'lon Hornbeak fan than me. I got on board with Je'lon after watching him play in two state playoff games when he was at Grace Prep. I hated to see him leave OU, because I thought he was important to the team as a back up at the point and as a guard who could score off of the bench.

Having said that, how does a player who never averaged more than 5.6 ppg and 1.8 rpg become irreplaceable after he leaves? Je'lon was a good defender, that much is certain. But, I fail to see why everyone is convinced that he would play starter minutes this season based on what he accomplished while he was here? I just don't see it. It definitely wasn't his shooting. He shot 22% from three as a freshman and 33% as a sophomore. That's nothing to write home about.

Are there stats out there that supports the idea that Je'lon would have been an important piece to the puzzle this season? I know he transferred to Monmouth, but he is not listed on their roster.

I see no way he plays starter minutes. He didn't last year and Hield, Cousins and Woodard are all improved. I just think if he wanted to be at OU, he would have been a help to the team. However, if this wasn't the right place for him, it is better for everyone that he goes somewhere else. He deserves to be happy and the team deserves not to have negativity in the locker room. When I say negativity I don't mean he necessarily did anything wrong, body language or an unspoken unhappiness can bring people down.

I was told some time back that Jelon has reinjured his foot.

I'm sorry to hear that. I have always wished Je'lon well, and I have no reason to change that now.

To summarize what I said earlier, my answer to Northbase's question is, NO. While it would have been nice to have another capable body in our backcourt, I don't believe Je'lon would have been a "major contributor" this season.

I think it's fair to wonder if he would have outperformed Walker. I'm not so sure he would have, but I think it's a reasonable (if moot) question.

I don't give much thought to players who transfer, myself.
