Wow. The league does look really tough again this season. I wonder if we can have a season like last year where over half the league gets into the NCAA.

Watch out for Trent Johnson and the Horned Frogs... Trent has won coach of the year in the SEC, Pac-10, and Mountain West. Guy can coach.

They are 7-0.

I watched the Hornfrogs play last night. Their bigs (Fields, Washburn, Abron and Shepherd) look pretty good. I wasn't all that impressed with their guards, although Trey Zeigler is a kid OU wanted coming out of high school.

The Big 12 is going to be tough this season. I haven't seen anything to suggest that any team in the conference should be thought of as an automatic W, especially on the road.

Who lost to Long Beach State and where? That doesn't seem like a team you would do a home and home with

Pretty sure it was KSU. I think they played that game on the way out to the Maui tournament

You're right, it was KSU. Don't know if they were on their way to Maui, but the game was played on LBS's home floor. KSU lost 69-60.

One thing I noticed in checking the boxscore: Two of KSU's starting guards, Marcus Foster and Justin Edwards, were of 2 of 23 from the field (0 of 10 from three) in that game. No wonder they lost.

The LBSU game for K State was their version of our game at Creighton. In the long run, it will be an aberration for them too.

he also left stanford and lsu to take lesser jobs before he was fired at both

The Big 12 is fantastic this year.

1-8 could beat almost anyone on a given night.

Even TCU and Tech aren't horrible this year.

I watched a lot of that game. It was just a combination of things. Really poor shooting which dug themselves into a big hole. Almost climbed out of it. Got it within 4 with under 2 minutes to play if I remember right. But it was a Friday night game. Started really late, I think it was like 9 or 9:30 here in the central time zone. The crowd was pretty good since it was on a Friday night. And the refs were giving everything to Long Beach down the stretch. Not trying to make excuses for KSU, but all of that played a factor. Plus, I think Vegas had the line KSU -2ish or something like that. So it was predicted to be a close game. Not as bad of a loss as it appears when you first see that KSU lost to Long Beach State.
