big rumer OU sues B12

Coaches have said how big of a detriment 11 am games are when you are trying to roll out the red carpet for recruits. They usually play Friday nights, so not a lot of time for them to get the full game day experience.

Also, I think it's pretty detrimental to the home-field advantage. There is no time for the fans to get lathered up for a big game. If it's Iowa State at 11 am so be it. But if it's TCU at 11 am, I think that is a big disadvantage from a home-field standpoint.

I fully understand why locals don't like 11am games, but I like sleeping late on a Saturday, waking up, having breakfast, and boom -- it's game time.

Yep, pretty awesome. When I lived in Colorado it was even more awesome.

I hate night games way over 11 AM games. 2:30 is the best start time for games though. Night games should be banned. At least as far as OU is concerned.

I like the 11am slot as well... Get it done. If they played half their games at 11:00 and the other have at 7:00, that would be perfect.

While it may be a slight convenience for people watching at home in different time zones, it's a pretty major inconvenience and/or downer for those of us who go to the games. I'm part of a group that hosts a fairly big tailgate and we've all spent a lot of time, money, and effort to make it a fun experience. I don't mind breakfast burritos and mimosas every once in a while, but 5 out of the last 7 is a little excessive.

Denver also made a good point. This is likely one of a handful of games the Big 12 will have featuring two ranked opponents all season, and it's kicking off before a lot of casual fans on the west coast have even finished their coffee. It was the same way with Baylor in Norman last year. Of course, if you look at the reverse, teams like WVU and Baylor consistently get OU in primetime in front of lathered up striped/blacked out stadiums. I just think there should be at least a little equity in the way this gets dolled out.

Imagine if OU had gone to the PAC 12.. They usually have an 11 pm ET start on their network as one of their slots

I would prefer games played at midnight than at 5-7 pm start time. Games should never start at that time.

I don't mind the 6:00 or 7:00 central start time. For me, it actually allows me to go to social events (especially the 6:00 start time) being only a bit late. The ABC game at 7:00 in my opinion is the main event so I like OU being in that game.

Im just glad this was a rumor. Seemed like a very GIAStout aggie thing to do...

not as many this year .. pac 12 added 11am local window to reduce the night games (the late est starts were getting poor ratings)

I talked to a ticket rep for ou today. He said Joe c is furious with the number of 11 am games. Not just with ou but the conference as a whole

Like all of this wasn't negotiated and fully understood when the conference signed the huge TV deals that are leading to record payouts. As somebody else said the 11am start time is better for a national audience.

Exactly. Surely OU's leaders understood there would be an 11:00 game each week. They may not have realized OU would pay in half of them.

Hindsight is 20/20, but if a school like OU consistently drives strong ratings at a time slot which is in dire need of a boost, why is anyone that surprised?

The 11 am time slot is better for the players, coaches and TV ratings which equates to higher revenues.

It's laughable that Joe C is "surprised" and wasn't totally in the loop of all negotiations which led to such great deals.

This is just fan complaining from those who don't like getting up early, as if getting up in time for an 11 am game is early. Lots of us are up at 5:30 most days.

I saw this factoid on 11 a.m. Big 12 games in the DOK from Ryan Abner:

Since the start of the 2013 season, Oklahoma and Iowa State have each had seven such home kickoffs. Kansas has six. Baylor and Texas haven't had a single 11 a.m. start at their home stadiums in that span.

Unbelievable!

A couple a season is fine. But the amount we have had is not. And Joe C is not happy about it. I'm going to guess that the players love the night games. Not sure on coaches. But night games create a better atmoshpere for players, fans, and recruits. Plus it brings in ALOT more business for businesses in Norman.

But Boca gonaa Boca

I'm doing a fundraiser Oct 3rd night so I asked for the 11 am kickoff. Sorry for the inconvenience.
