Just went through Sampson's record. Didn't double-check so it's possible I'm off by a game or two, but I have it at 49 10+ point losses. He coached 388 games at OU.

How did it get to this point? This is too pathetic for words.

Thank you for doing this I was wondering this very thing today while I was watching OU get gashed at home. I can only remember two home blowouts (15-20 pts.) under Sampson, I know there were probably more, but there weren't near as many in 12 years or so as we've had with Capel in 5.

Today's game was almost a carbon copy of that Villanova loss at the LNC Capel's first year. But IMO that it to be expected. This team is a lot like that one. They were overmatched in nearly every area against A&M today just like they were against that Nova team, and like they will be against most top 25 teams this year.

His first team could beat this team by double-digits. That team was as poorly coached but had much more talent.

But he won a gold medal in U18 World Championships. :eddie187_jpg_xs:

With the 3 point shot, counting a 10 point loss as a blowout may be a little harsh. Maybe 15 points is a better measure.

Having said that we already have 5 losses of 15 or more this year. That is very alarming.

I think we have to face that we are in for a very tough year in 2010-2011

That's pretty horrific. That means Capel has been beaten by 10+ points in one out of every four games he's coached at Oklahoma. I imagine that ratio will only go up as we go through conference play.

But to me, the following is even worse: take out the 2009 Elite 8 season and we've had 36 10+ point losses in 112 games. That means that, other than the Elite 8 season, we're getting by 10+ one out of every three times we step onto the court.

THAT is pitiful.

It is 25%.

Wow, that is tremendously awful.

I just don't know how you can keep your job at OU with numbers like these.

10 point losses are hardly blowouts, especially with the current practice of fouling so much to increase possessions. If teams hit free throws and you miss your 3s, a 4 point game can easily turn into a 10 point loss. However, even if you moved the limits to 15 point losses, the point still stands. When we're bad, we aren't even in games. And we're bad quite a bit.

Capel is judged on wins and losses, three out of five losing seasons at Oklahoma doesn't work.

Might want to double-check those. Off the top of my head, I know from looking at this yesterday you're missing the pre-season NIT game at George Tech in the 95-96 season.

I think that's the only one I missed it's 46. For some reason I read that has 82-73 when I first read it.
