Bolden...ku getting top 25 center

Here we go again with "if you believe that" statement. Prove it.

And again...what happened with McLemore has no effect on the commitment of any KU player right now. I am not denying that cheating has happened or is happening. I'm saying...stop making accusations about a kids commitment unless you have proof. Stop bringing up guys in the past. We get it...cheating happens. I'm tired of hearing a kid is going to a school b/c he was paid when you have no proof of it what so ever.

So you think McLemore was just a one-time deal at KU? All the other 4 and 5 star guys they've gotten from the AAU circuit before and since were clean?

Believe what you want, but dirty world of college basketball recruiting is one of the worst kept secrets in sports. Just google "dirty college basketball recruiting". There are all kinds of articles on the topic. Dave Telep, a guy who would know, wrote probably the best expose on the topic for ESPN. He straight up says there are "pay-for-play" recruits who seek direct inducements. The more common problem is the "agent". I'd say there's more than strong circumstantial evidence that the schools that land the top recruits year after year after year inevitably have to wade into that cesspool from time to time. But without subpoena power, I'm not sure how else I can "prove" that to your satisfaction.

I'm sure there foul play going on..heck didn't OU get into some trouble few year back? But I do not believe that everyone cheats or has to cheat to bring in top ten class

The best was the Wiggins recruitment. When it appeared that Wiggins was going to pledge his commitment to UK, KU fans was adamant that his going rate was $300k. Then Wiggins picks KU and nary a word about Wiggins getting his pay day from KU instead.

I agree, and I'm certainly not suggesting that every top 5-10 class must be the result of some kind of cheating 100% of the time. But I think it probably happens a lot at those blue blood basketball factories, and it's been happening for a long time.

I actually think the most dirty part of college basketball right now is in academic fraud. It's actually what the NCAA can "prove" more commonly because they can get the right documents and force university employees to cooperate. I think what was going on at UNC is very common throughout college sports, including at OU.

Its not what I believe. Its what I know. Its what you know and You don't know!!!! You have no proof. And its not whether you believe they were paid, its more of you want them to have paid. I have no idea whether any KU, duke, UK or an OU player or commit has been paid. The only time I've ever had intel on a player wanting money is when TMG called Capel after he had committed and told him that some LSU player was paid(can't remember who it was) and he said he deserved to get paid as well. Capel told him that he didn't pay Griffin, do you really think I'm going to pay you? TMG called back later and said if Griffin didn't take money then I shouldn't either. That info came from an assistant coach.

I have come to the point where I realize bgrch1350 is just a troll! this and the statement about soloman being better than lattin! that's all he is!

OK...the ORIGINAL POST was about hopefully OU getting a better shot at Bolden since KU got a top 25 post guy...

geeze...

for the record...I HATE the ____ pays players that's why they are good...

really? does OU pay football recruits? OU football is pretty dang good.

IF I was a basketball stud, I'd have ku, uk, duke, unc all on my list WHY? BECAUSE THEY ARE CONSISTENTLY GOOD! I'd have OU cause I'm an OU homer~

we are a "blue blood" in football, just like those schools are blue bloods in basketball...just like baseball...kids go where the program is successful and will give them a shot at a future in it.

Shaq came out and he said he was paid. Booster give money to kids all the time. Cam Newton was bought for 250k.

Heck even OU boosters and coach gave players money... It happens.

Bama Oline came out and said he was paid.

I dont think its everyone, but it happens. Jobs are given all the time, even in HS.

Back in the day when Enos Semore was the OU baseball coach, my dad would "hire" baseball players to work on the farm. They never appeared at our house or on our farm as far as I know. :)

There is no doubt that this stuff happens all the time. There's also tons of money moving to AAU teams from shoe and athletic apparel companies. But some here are conflating shady stuff by boosters and Nike with programs themselves, all while suggesting that we have one of the few clean programs around.

Bill Self wasn't involved in the Cliff Alexander stuff, just as Kruger wasn't involved with the stuff from Szendrai. And the notion that some here are spewing that Duke, Kansas, and the other top programs are always at the top because their coaches cheat is just absurd. If Bolden goes to Kentucky or Kansas or Duke, it's not going to be because their coaches gave them a truckload of cash.

Additionally, I know a few players who've played recently at some of the top programs in the country and there was never 1 inkling that they received anything they shouldn't have from anyone. I know there was some shady stuff in the AAU circles but not with college recruiting. Maybe it's ask hidden in trust funds somewhere, but I doubt it.

A booster tried to give the guys spending money through the strength and conditioning coach. OU stopped it, fired the coach and no longer associates with the booster. It is fine to bring stuff up that is negative but at least speak about it accurately.

Read my post. I did. You know I know about this program. That's why I said he lost a job and booster lost his spot as well.

Come on now.

Did OU pay for Willie and Tiny? I've always thought we did!
And I know for a fact a booster paid for a certain recruit from BTW

I just want to clarify that I never once suggested anything of the sort. Those programs ability to attract great players has as much to do with great tradition, media exposure, fan support, and a proven track record of excellence as any nefarious dealings.

But at the same time, I'm a little surprised it's been controversial to suggest that those programs have historically and are probably still engaged in such dealings. I'm particularly surprised that people bristle at any suggestion that Calipari and Kentucky are dirty. I thought that was a pretty widely accepted notion.

I'm with you, how many final fours has he had to vacate?

This topic has gone down quite the rabbit hole. Interesting OP and it survived a posts. Then off the rails.

You said OU did it. In fact OU did not do it. A low level employee destroyed his career by gong along with a booster. The university and coach had nothing to do with it. As soon as they leaned of it, it was disclosed and rectified.

I don't recall anything about WW but an assistant gave Tiny's family money to pay for his high school transcripts.

Well Tiny got a coach fired and got the team sanctioned, so yeah. Willie, I don't know. But he was able to be sold on coming to play with Blake and was from a couple hours away. So it doesn't seem fishy that we got him "legit."

YES, we did. Jeff C is that type of coach. We did pay those guys then…trust me.

I can't believe some folks act like its not happening?? The sec lives by it. Has for years.

Stoops and Lon don't play like that. They tell the truth to the young guys and show them the right way to accomplish things in life.

Truly father figures and damn proud to have them as our coaches.. Lon is truly the best man is college hoops coaching. Wish i could of played for him.
