Boomer got fired after OSU game

I think Jeff is a solid poster. You may not agree with his takes for various reasons, but he is consistent with backing up his observations with facts.

I think it's pretty healthy to have lively discussions with posters that are fans of other schools. It brings a different perspective and helps "energize" various topics/threads. I think it beats the alternative.....which would be becoming a "cultist" board similar to Texags, etc.

I think Denver is more than that, and he's a Sooner fan.

Or the oswho boards, where dissenting voices from opposing fans are regularly silenced.

No one's telling Jeff not to post. We're calling him out on his choice to lecture a dedicated poster to a board on which Jeff is a guest (as are all opposing fans on any board dedicated to a particular team). Especially since the posts on oswho boards FAR exceed Denver's in their lack of self-awareness.

That said, it's interesting that you're ok with Jeff calling out an OU fan on a Sooner board, but not with a couple of OU fans calling Jeff out. Not sure I grasp the logic there.

I don't visit the osu boards, so I can't comment on what goes on there. And I didn't say I am ok with anyone calling anyone out....I'm not sure where or how you got that out of my post??? I'm not involved with any of that nonsense up this thread.

What I was attempting to point out is that, in the history of the posts that I've seen from him, Jeff is generally a decent contributor to the forum. Now people on this site are going to give him sh!t regardless.....because he is an aggie....and I understand that. But my main point was that posters from other schools can be a good thing, at times, on this forum because they bring a different perspective.....nothing more, nothing less.

I have to admit I wouldn't want to go to a game at osu and have pistol pete blocking my view. I would be upset. I am not sure it was fire worthy but I am not sure what was said.

The mascot was probably asked to stop and he continued to do his taunting and probably did not realize it was Travis Fords wife ( you don't taunt the other teams coach's family as a mascot, let the fans do that)

That's strange, 'cause I took the meaning of your post exactly the same way skyvue took it.

Anyway, I'm okay with osuJeff posting here, even though he usually has no idea what he's talking about. :)

Newsok.com article states that the Mascot was told more then once not to return to that section. I guess if the bosses tell you not to do something you should listen. Makes since why the firing now.

It would be so much better if the OU mascot was a coed dressed in Crimson on a Cream colored horse, riding down the LNC tunnel onto the court, followed by staff with cleanup containers (just in case). Can you imagine the increase in attendance this would create? The real horse could also ride out onto the court at the end of the game, as this might prevent fans from leaving early.

An article in this morning's Oklahoman also said the mascot was harassing Travis Ford's wife. Assuming that's true, Boomer got what he/she deserved: FIRED!

There is no excuse for "harassing" anyone, especially the wife of a visiting coach. I may be old and a little cranky sometimes, but to be honest I think the mascots are annoying. I have tolerated them in the past because I didn't want to create a scene. That doesn't mean I liked it.

Their job (if you want to call it that) should be to interact with the kids and make the game experience fun for them, not pester adults who paid the price of admission to enjoy a basketball game.

The Tulsa World article is similar, except the Oklahoman gave it an OSU slant by saying Ford's wife was a target. And, in a way she was if Boomer continued to stand in front of her, and some of the popcorn got on her as well. I don't think there is any question that Boomer went way beyond what a mascot should do. I have experienced it myself, which is why I believe that to be true.

I agree with what Miller said:

“A mascot is supposed to entertain and mingle with their school’s fans, not harass the other team’s fans and throw popcorn on them,” Miller said. “He had no business acting like he did.”

I'd say standing so that he blocked Ms. Ford's view of that game was a chivalrous action on Boomer's part.

The majority of Jeff's posts here are to correct Sooner fans when they speak out about OSU and to try to defend OSU's honor.

I simply don't get the point. I enjoy conversing with Sooner fans, and could not possibly care less what Poke fans think about OU on poke message boards. And Jeff has been doing the same on multiple OU boards for a really, really long time. It's pretty bizarre behavior to be honest.

Note the difference between OU and OSU. An OSU spirit squad member tried to trip and potentially injure an OU football player in Stoolwater in 2013. OSU suspends him for a game. The OU mascot tosses popcorn on a worthless Aggie and is dismissed. One school has class, one doesn't.

You can do this all day. Mixon/Hill, Collins/DGB.

Yeah OSU is pretty terrible. Agreed.

Everyone applies to OU. The ones rejected go to OSU and cling to their bitterness the rest of their lives. ;)

Seriously though, the "gooner game" never brings out the best in OSU and probably not OU either. Losing that game makes OSU fans more upset than any other loss possibly could so OU fans can't resist having fun with their little brother a bit

Only an Aggie would compare Hill punching his pregnant girlfriend in the face, hitting her in the stomach and throwing her to the ground with Mixon hitting a stranger that is on video hitting him first. Mixon was suspended from all team activities for a year.

I think Collins is the kid from Texas that plead guilty to either rape or statutory rape of a 13 year old girl. DGB was never even charged with a crime.

Nice comparisons. It takes a truly special person to come up with either of these.

Collins was by the far worst one... Prentiss Elliott was pretty bad too.

That's what you get with a fan base eaten up with Inferiority Complexes!
