Bryce Thompson Transferring

As in not giving a freshman like Thompson freedom to run with the ball.

That's on Rod for pushing the kid to Kansas when Self has NEVER allowed a freshman guard to run the show.

Rod didn’t want KU.

Rod let him choose 100%

Interesting, seemed to be the opposite. All you heard throughout the process was Rod and Bill Self.

Hope Bryce doesn't make another mistake by overcompensating in where he chooses to go next and rushing the process.

I would think if harmon is secondary ball handler then that would leave BT to do what he wants...be the "pg"....just my take.

Harmon would transition to pg & BT would go to this year’s Harmon role.

Rod just pushed his former HC & Self pouncing on that. Bryce & Self was never going to be a fit.

I believe he silently verbally committed to our staff out of high school. They were VERY confident we had him signed. Then Self offered him PG role. Self lied.

Trae's doing what he can to get BT to Norman. He reportedly sent him a tweet that read, “Come on home lil bro !! #BoomerSooner.”

Yeah, coach and others have pretty much nailed this one. He wasn’t given freedom to run the offense and drive. Bryce was never a shooter, yet was forced into that type of role at KU, because that’s what they do.

He wants to run the offense, he wants to drive. He doesn’t want to stand at the 3 point line and spot up.

Tulsa can/has offered that type of role. OK state definitely can’t with Anderson as the main PG. OU is an unknown due to a new coach. Had Kruger and Carlin been here, I think OU would be a real leader here. With Moser, I don’t know that there’s a strong connection to convince him the KU thing won’t happen here.

Also, don’t worry about in conference transfers. That rule goes away before basketball season starts next year.

Point Guard spot at OSU is open. They are looking to add a PG, a shooter and a Big.

I've read St. Johns as a possible destination.

Not to say he couldn’t have been a contributor had he stayed 4 years but I have to believe part of his offer had to do with trying to get Bryce.

This is pretty much correct. The staff thought he could contribute down the line, and they knew it wouldn't hurt in Bryce's recruitment. Trey would've been a decent player for us in a couple of years had he stayed and grown stronger.

It wasn't the oil and water situation Lon faced when it came to Trae Young and Lindy Waters. Or the disaster scenario Kelvin confronted with Bookout/DeAngelo and Azubuike.

Agreed. That is a nice explanation.

As great as Bryce is, we need more help down low. I’ll absolutely take Bryce in a heartbeat, but the main priority is PFs and Cs, so if we don’t get him but fill those needs with quality, I’ll be fine.

I just hope he goes somewhere where he can play his style, and he doesn’t get conned/lied to again.
