C.J. Cole a little surprised by OU interest

Seems like a great kid..hopefully he can contribute. UCONN could use him w/ his 34 ACT...ha

:ez-laugh: Zing!

Seriously, he seems like a good kid and Lon obviously saw something in him.

Is this like when Capel said he was surprised we contacted him for an interview? Never a good situation. I hope this one turns out better.

One head coach.

Thirteen scholarship basketball players.

You can afford to take a flier on a couple kids like this every now and then. Worst case scenario you have a smart kid sitting at the end of the bench for four years who then goes out and represents OU well for the next several decades.

Plus he enters as a preferred walk-on. He may not ever get a 'ship if he doesn't earn it.

fair enough. Would you say the same thing if this was happening at Missouri? Not being a jerk just curious

Haven't been the biggest supporter of Cole getting a schollie down the line, but really happy for him that he gets a chance to earn his stripes at OU. Has to be a great feeling.

My understanding is that he has been promised the 'ship starting his second year. It's not an "earn it" type of situation.

As for offering him a 'ship, I have no problem with it as long as he is kind of the 13th man on scholarship.

He works hard and will have a chance to contribute for us. He has some decent skills by all accounts.

He is also a 6'7" with a 36 inch verticle and a knack for rebounding the ball. A good staring place and reportedly they are going to take a year to develope his game.

I don't see anything but upside with this recruit.

Exactly! He also averaged more than 22 ppg and nearly 18 rpg his senior season. His rebounding average is impressive at any level.

Wost case scenario: OU is getting a great kid who will represent the unversity well for many years to come, be a positive influence by how hard he works, while boosting the team GPA.

Totally agree about the upside! I think C. J. Cole will prove that Kruger made the right call.
