I am NOT a gloom and doomer. Never have been.

But this is BAD. With a huge B.

There's no way Tiny makes it back to OU's court. Just not gonna happen. This is already a horrid body blow to our program.

Combine this with TMG attitude/waffling on the back of the dreadful season - - and it would seem coach better pull some last second recruiting and motivating magic out of the bag or he might be shown the door.

really sad IMO.

If he knew about it and let him play he's gone. Other than that he's fine.

I think he can survive, but in comparison, the standards set with Kelvin make this hard to take. Kelvin didn't have these issues.

Can someone photoshop Capel's head onto this photo?

Don't count on TMG being back next year. :(

It does not look good.

Kind of reminds me of OU football in '88.

Some of the stuff he said in the Hale interview is encouraging, in that he certainly is not in any way delusional about the problems. Plus, he mentioned feeling good about recruiting.

But, I am certainly worried about whether he can pull it back together or not.

well I was all up in arms about how we need TMG and Tiny to stay as building blocks...but a full reset is obviously in order now. that is just dang ugly.

Maybe we need to get rid of the junk so we can start building a program. But we don't have a lot of players on our roster next year if those 2 guys aren't here. We need to get a bunch of guys that can play right away. I don't care if they are freshmen, sophomores or JUCOs We are razor thin right now.

Are you saying a full reset as in the coach too? Like right now? Or are you saying full reset of the roster with Capel still intact?

Let's say the "Three Amigos" leave and Capel reloads with a bunch of jucos to go with Clark and Taylor and the guys we return. Then we go something like 16-16 next year, the team plays hard and doesn't embarrass themselves off the court, I'd say he'd get one more year after next year. And then if we're out of the NCAAs for three straight years he's gone. I think that will be Joe C's mindset, unless there's more behind the scenes we don't know.

Personally I think he should get one more year, but I wouldn't be too upset if Joe C. made the move now to go in a different direction.

I am saying a full reset of the roster...and wondering if coach can survive the results. I agree with you about the chances. We also must consider the consequences of the ncaa's grad rule.

Yeah, at some point if players keep coming and going before they graduate, we're going to start losing scholarships as that grad rate percentage drops.

a full reset huh? exactly where do you guys expect us to just scoop up a roster full of nice players that can contribute immediately? I honestly don't know any and from the looks of our recruiting Capel doesn't either. We lose Tiny and/or TMG and we're in BIG trouble.

How do you know our chemistry isn't better? That was the biggest problem with this years team.

i'm not disputing the fact that our chemistry is bad this year and pretty much can only get better at this point. all i'm saying is i dont think we will be able to find many if any impact players if we get rid of all the talent on our roster. I just dont see anyone out there whose interested in OU that can come in and be an impact player. Especially big men and PGs. Haven't we learned in the last several years that good JUCO guys are few and far between in this day and age?

Now with that said, i could very well be completely wrong. Whatever happens i want the same thing all you guys want, and thats a quality product on the court.

i dont think you understand quick...this isn't even a choice.

Capel can survive this as long as he has the right players. Right now I only trust 1 player on the team that is about the team first and himself 2nd, that being Cade Davis. Now Pledger and Fitz seem to have put the shop lifting behind them, and from all accounts are good kids, lets hope so. Now comes the 3 headed monster Warren, Gallon, and TMG. I Feel at this point only TMG can be salvaged here and i am thinking he is the one who wants to leave the program the most. Its just one big mess. Capel can coach he has proved that at VCU and in his first 3 years here. He just needs to find the blue collars who want to do whatever it takes to win.

Well I am counting WW and Gallon as gone.

To me this makes TMG staying that much more critical. But only if he decides he needs to play both ends of the floor.

What bothers me more than anything about this current group of freshman is every one of them has had issues of some type. It's cutting/late to practice, not coming back from a holiday on time, shop lifting and now possibly taking money. To me that's a major reflection on the staff's ability to recruit good people in addition to good players. At this point coach is batting .000 on last year's class in the "good people" category, and that's a pretty crappy percentage in my book. He better get this figured out real quick or OU is going to count as a win for everyone else in the BigXII, and that's unacceptable.

So to answer the original question...no I don't. I think Capel's days in Norman are numbered.

I think your view there has validity. Their judgment in this regard certainly warrants scrutiny.

I wondered why Tiny only had 3 offers while being a top 10 recruit. Cal, Miss St and OU were his offers on Rivals.

Something just doesn't seem right and now he is accused of accepting some dough.

If there were some whispers about something not being above board during his recruitment and Jeff knew about it, he won't survive.

How does a gossip show in LA know about something shady and not the HC?

The future of OU hoops looks horrible today.
