Correct me if I'm wrong here but if Gallon and Warren stick in the NBA, Capel will have put 4 guys in the NBA in two years. That's not bad.

OU = NBA farm team

plus if you count Maynor while he was at VCU

Your results are measured by wins and loss' and Capel failed miserably this year with that. Also, in the 2 years without Blake Griffin he has a losing record.

While your statement is correct, I'm not sure it has anything to do with the original post which is about putting guys in the NBA.

Which is something that talented kids, whether they are "one and done" or three year early entrants look at. Being known as a guy that can get you into the NBA is "kind of a big deal".

I really don't care if OU never puts another guy in the NBA under Capel as long as we win a bunch of games

Right, becuase getting the best players never helps you win a bunch of games.

Do the best college players always make it in the NBA?

Usually... YES!!!

Look at the National Players of the year from the last 16 years:

1994-Glen Robinson
1995-Joe Smith
1996-Marcus Camby
1997-Tim Duncan
1998-Antwan Jamison
1999-Elton Brand
2000-Kenyon Martin
2001-Shane Battier
2002-Jason Williams
2003-T.J. Ford
2004-Jameer Nelson
2005-Andrew Bogut
2006-J.J. Reddick
2007-Kevin Durant
2008-Tyler Hansbrough
2009-Blake Griffin

All in the NBA besides Jason Williams, who was hurt in a motorcycle accident, and Glen Robinson, who retired after winning a ring in San Antonio. Yes the best college players are in the NBA.

I think Joe Smith retired too and he was never as good as anyone thought he would be. And Blake hasn't played an NBA game last I looked.

Smith played for Atlanta this season, he is 1 out of only 100 players to play 1000 career games, that = making it in the NBA, and Blake is still in the NBA. He was the Number 1 pick. That = making the NBA

And you are going with the top player in college. We won't see OU get the top player in college often. I'm talking more about the team. Having guys think that they were NBA players is a big problem we had last year. I don't care about the NBA from the college level. We can't have players that think that far ahead right now or we have teams with the attitudes that last years team had.

It didn't last year.

And back to the original post in this thread what about TMG? That would make 5.

it helped Kentucky win Last year. It Helped Duke win last year. It helped Kansas win some games last year. The best college players make your team better, and make it to the NBA. TMG, Tiny, and WW were not the best players in college last year. They all had problems coming out of high school, which is why non of the big boys wanted them, and it showed on the court. Capel admitted at much and will no longer go after guys of questionable character just because they are burger boys.

Well sorry to attack you then cuz that is a good point. Your original post did not convey that message. If they are truly great players, and play like it, it is not a problem. It is guys with inflated egos that are the problem.

And but even at that his list is unimpressive. If one is trying to make the argument that the top player in college basketball and his NBA prowess that's a horrible argument. Take off Tim Duncan & Kevin Durant and you have zero perennial all-stars on that list. And some guys that haven't done squat. When I first read that list I was thinking what a crappy NBA resume that group has. That group couldn't be win an NBA title right now.

Wow, how the story around here has changed on those guys. :ez-laugh:
Nobody was talking about any "problems" they had when they committed to OU. It was all positive. Come on man..that's weak to be saying that now.

Exactly, a stupid statement like you don't care if our players make it to the next level is bizarre though, but that's NickZepp, no gray, just black and white.

I wasn't on this board saying anything when they signed. I started posting on here after this season ended.
