You are looking for HARD FACTS in predicting the future? Call Ms. Cleo I guess. But I just listed three teams that were widely pimped on this board as being good this season and they haven't been. I guess I could do a cut and paste job on star ratings, high school accolades or something, but we've seen how accurate those can be.
Here is the HARD FACT, barring something completely unexpected, Coach Capel will be here for at least next year no matter how many threads come up on here whining about him or the team or the current state of the program. It is what it is, whether you like it, don't like it, think that Sampson was better or that OU basketball deserves better or whatever reason anybody comes up with.
It is what it is, and no amount of bandwidth, eloquent statements about the Tubbs years, or how hard Sampson teams played, or how crappy TMG or Tiny were or how all Duke guys can't coach or how great a recruiting class team [INSERT HERE] is bringing in is going to make a shred of difference. I question any "realist" who would continue to bang their head against a brick wall and wonder why they are the ones bleeding. Unfortunately, it is this board that is really hemorrhaging, over an issue that is a non-issue...Capel is almost 100% a lock to be coming back....nobody said you had to be happy, excited or anything about it, but my goodness, and not saying you specifically its gotten to the point where people want this team to fail so they can be "right". It is sort of disturbing.
Very good points. This losing is bringing the out worst fan in a lot of us, myself definitely included. Having played bball since I was 5 years old, all I want is competitive, winning basketball. Yes the team is trying but are they improving? Some will say yes, but I don't see it, at least in droves. Fitz came into the season not rebounding and is exiting the season in the same fashion, Pledger doesn't seem to be much improved from the opening tip, Clark, while talented, hasn't seemed to improve significantly, Blair played bad in the early games and has played poor as recent as the A&M game, Neal has played well but has played poorly too, Newell mostly looks lost out there, C.J./Nick aren't providing much of anything....Goff isn't going to change our outcomes too much, on assumption. Osby is going to be the guy and we don't even know if can give us what Cade gave us...
I just think us fans are split on what we see as improvement. Again, I, like others, don't see a whole lot of improvement...maybe just status quo. Some of you guys, not saying it's bad, think the team does a 180 next season.
One thing I've noticed on this board (myself included) is that no one is ever wrong and there's no middle ground. Like I stated earlier, I don't care who is coaching necessarily, as long as the team plays hard, has discipline, a gameplan, intelligence and competes for the Big 12. Getting to the Elite Eight/Final Four is just that much sweeter. I'd support Capel 100% if I felt like he wasn't in over his head. Sadly, that's the way half the fanbase feels.
Oh and we were just discussing other team's projected rosters...it's useless but I thought that was the point of a message board. I don't think anyone should tell people what to say or not say.
So I pose this question...Can you name me 1 thing from each player that has improved from the beginning to the end? Sell me on this "improvement"
