By Fran Fraschila as a part of the media day coverage.
Here is a brief recap of what I heard.
On Fitz
He's a lot better basketball player. Started to see it toward end of the year, good play vs Kansas. Lot better shape, dropped to 227. Worked on his body so he is a better athlete and has more stamina. Not a big physical above the rim, overpowering type. But is a skilled guy can shoot the basketball and put the ball on floor from certain spots. His development is going to be huge for us.
Youth of team.
It's the youngest team I've coached anyway. It present challenges but its exciting. Its exciting and refreshing to come in everyday with a group that wants to work and get better. The process of becoming a team. Been a breath of fresh air in the program.
Cameron Clark (and young players in general)
Our future is very very bright. Only one senior on the team and they all have great attitudes. Cameron has come in and been better than I thought and I thought he would be pretty good and he has been better. I'm hesitant to say that because I don't want expectations to be too great and that put pressure on him. He's a kid you can coach, like an open book, a sponge. He wants to compete, a desire to get better. You can get on him if you need to but you don't really have to. He doesn't but his head between his legs, he comes out and tries to get better. There is no since of entitlement, no you owe me, he just wants to get better. He's been really good for us.
Expectations for this season
I expect us to be a good basketball team. I expect us to come out and compete every possession and try to get better each day. I think fans, our fans especially will be excited about seeing us, the guys we have.
Couple notes from the in studio analyst (Adrian Branch I believe)
You don't turn out a Blake Griffin, a player of the year and you're a sorry coach. He's a player coach, if you go out work hard and defend and he wants to put a product out there that the community can be proud of him. Cade has to step up.
