Chris Crutchfield to OU as ASST. Coach

I was hoping for an Evans hire. I thought with his HS days in Oklahoma, AAU days with Athletes First, being an assistant at OU for a year and that he has been coaching at UCO for a longtime now, that he would have good connections. I trust Kruger so hopefully CC is the right dude for the job. Just thought Evans had all the criteria he was looking for, that's all.

In Oklahoma? Sure.

But the state of Oklahoma doesn't produce enough talent to sustain OU's program. And when you factor in that OU would be doing really, really well to keep 1/2 of the TOP Oklahoma talent (top 25 type guys), it pushes that home even more.

Evans is great from an OU fan perspective, but I am not sure he has the ties to Texas recruiting that we need. Crutchfield has extensive ties to Texas, especially the Dallas area. Kruger wanted someone with ties to both Ok and Tx, Crutchfield has that.

I think this is pretty accurate. While Terry has the makings of a great recruiter, looking at his UCO rosters, I think he had maybe 3 Texas kids over the past 4 years. No knock on Terry - you don't make a living at UCO with Texas guys. But, if you want ties to the area, a guy like Chris is a better move.

Not sure who recruited them, but Dom Morrison and Steven Roundtree are really good players. Roundtree was mid-major Freshman of the Year. Niles is a good player as well.

Roundtree was a Crutchfield guy. Don't know about Dom.

Terry Evans beaten out huh?

....shocker

:facepalm

There is a ton of Dallas Metro talent for 2012 and 2013. We will find out very quickly what kind of Texas contacts that Crutchfield has...I hope he is in good with Jeff Webster.
