Thought he came in and really did some nice things. You can tell that his confidence is growing. People forget that JUCOs usually need a half of a season to start playing like they are projected (for recent proof: see Relly Rell. I wanted to throw him to the wolves after his play in our loss against Duke).

He's really good at letting the game come to him. That isn't always easy for a guy that doesn't play a lot.

Yeah, Capel has finally got the rotation to almost exactly what most on this board asked for: No Nick Thompson, more CJ Washington, and Newell and Neal are getting their chances.

J2D2 was correct earlier in the year.

Good call on Washington over Thompson. Hindsight is 20/20 but I am fully onboard with you now bud.

He has a real knack for rebounding but he is the type of player that has to play with an insane motor. He's still a bit tentative at times and he doesn't have enough athleticism to play with any inhibitions. I like what I see though and hope he gets more minutes.

i thought he played really well on defense in the first half. he had to exert himself so much with fitz in foul trouble that he was getting beat on rebounds at the end of the half because he was tired. heck, one time he was left alone to close out on two defenders behind the arc because no one would rotate over or pickup their man. it looked like a game of keep-away. proud of him. he keeps getting those minutes, then he will be in better game shape.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I think Newell will do well next year. He doesn't play point that well, but you can tell that he can slash and score. He just hasn't settled in completely, but when he does watch out. CJ does a lot of things that most of the time does not get noticed. Congrats to him. No Nick Thompson is good for OU basketball.

Great POST!!!

CJ did one heck of a job when Fitz got into early foul trouble in the first half. He has made some huge improvements in the past few weeks. Frankly, I thought he should have played more in the second half.

CJ isnt a great athlete but has good basketball smarts. All he really needs is experience. I expect him to start contributing (some)offense if he continues to get playing time. Since our success depends on defense and rebounding, Capel has him concentrating on rebounding.
