Well actually, I wasn't trying to lecture everyone. Only the ones that have taken strong positions that they could not defend with any data. And when pressed, it was obvious that they had not done any homework. And if you are so confident in your base of knowledge, why do you assume that I am talking to you? I have taken three really stong positions on the board. First was that Blair isnt any good and Grooms will beat him out. Second it was that Fitz was so inept at the post last season, Arent will get the job. And recently, it was that Clarke would be better than the guards from last years team. I have caught grief on all three of those positions. The only place in the world that could happen is on this message board. My positions are considered universal truths outside of this closed community. So either the posters are right and the majority is wrong. Or, there are some people on here talking about basketball that don't have the first clue. Take Pledger for example. I had a well respected Oklahoma college coach tell me that there were at least 6 guards every year coming out of Oklahoma high schools that were better prospects and had a chance to be a better player than Pledger. And that Capel was stupid for recruiting him. I like my source. The posters that say different are probably wrong. And so it goes. And if someone want to slam me on typo's, that tells me you don't have much to say about basketball.
I definitely agree that Clarke would be a huge addition to our team, Gary!
Arent is not even close to as polished offensively as Fitz. However, Fitz is a liabilty on D and his rebounding has been shaky at best. If you are basing your opinion that Arent will start over Fitz in the post on Arent's offensive game you are going to be disappointed. Arent is similar to Renzi Stone, a blue collar big man who will do the dirty work.
Pledger was a Soph last season, and he showed glimpses of being an all big 12 type. How about 38 points in Ames, Iowa, one of the toughest arenas in the Big 12. Of course he also failed to show up in others, but there are not 6 guards in OK HS yearly who could average 11 PPG in Big 12 play as Sophs.
