Colorado leaving the Big 12 soon to be Big X next year

I still think they should try to replace them instead of being 10 teams...

I would prefer that the Big Twelve also had to replace us.

I would try and get BYU and either Louisville or Memphis to replace the two teams

The BYU thing is dead. The only viable candidate I can see (other than Arkansas, which is a pipe dream) is Louisville. There is literally no one else out there that would bring anything NEW that is of value. This conference is still on life support.

And, the electric bill isn't paid.

I still like the idea of a 10 team league for basketball. Now everyone, I'm looking at you Kansas, has to play the same schedule. The new conference is, arguably, a better basketball conference than it was before.

I think we may see Texas A&M leave in a couple years because they won't get paid enough money. I don't see this 10 team Big 12 lasting. OU should have been proactive and left because we may be stuck without a conference in a couple of years.

I think Houston could be a good school to bring in. It would take them a few years to build to Big 12 caliber, but Houston is a hot bed for recruiting and the University has a lot of alumni and a lot of $$$.

it's very rare that I agree with nick so this is kind of momentous.

Houston brings absolutely nothing new to the table. A&M brings everything that Houston would bring already, and more. There is not a single school in Texas that we could add that would be anything more than a redundancy and just another mouth to feed.

i don't see anything remotely arguable about it. as things stand now, the big 12 minus nu/cu is the best bball conference in the country.

Louisville and Arkansas
or
Louisville and Iowa
or
Louisville and TCU
or
Louisville and New Mexico
or
Louisville and BYU

I dont see the big 12/X lasting past the 2011 - 2012 season. The Conference is on life support with the plug about to be pulled

I don't think any of those are an option, other than maybe Louisville/BYU.

Honestly, I think the #1 possibility would be Louisville/Memphis.

That would make it a heck of a basketball league. But neither add much to football which brings in the money.

The two that would be nice (Arkansas and Iowa) won't happen. The rest, they add nothing to the Big 12. Lets roll with 10, would love to see the north teams come to the LNC twice a year like the Big 8. Would be some fun times.

Louisville would be a decent option. Good fanbase, a brand new media market, decent football tradition with a commitment to winning. Unfortunately it doesn't make any sense geographically unless you could add someone else out to the east.

Does Iowa State really make that much sense geographically? Especially with Colorado and Nebraska gone.

The only teams that make sense geographically are Texas teams and Arkansas. I don't see Arkansas leaving, and the Texas teams add next to nothing.
