COMMIT- jamuni-mcneace 2014

From his height/build and description ("very athletic, energy, shot blocker "), sounds like a second coming of Longar Longar. Hope he can stay healthy and be as productive. LL is one of the best/underrated players of the last 10 years.

No dis on longar but I think he'll be light years ahead of where he started.

Really? LL put up 27(ish) as Frosh in one game. I sure hope you are right. What do the national guys think of this kid? I was glad to see that Huggins wanted him.

Late bloomer. I think he'll shoot up the rankings this year as a senior.

Kid can PLAY!

McNeace is raw. After playing this summer for Danny Granger’s D1 Ambassadors (NM) he has moved from Illinois to Texas. Allen HS will be getting a big time athlete (He won the Top 100 Camp slam dunk competition in spectacular fashion).

July 2013
Flat out one of the most athletic posts in the Class of 2014 anywhere in the country. McNeace could be a pro if he continues to work hard.

July 2013
The player with the biggest upside may well be 2014 P 6’10″ Jamuni McNeace (Allen, TX). McNeace only started playing basketball in high school and is making gigantic strides. He’s super long, athletic and wants to dunk everything. He averaged 10 ppg/11 rpg/4 blocks pg.

They have him ranked 73rd in Texas. Thats not a good sign. I did hear he is one of the more athletic bigs in Texas though.

Not a good sign that he just started playing in high school and is already ranked #73 in Texas?

The fact that he is shooting up many boards the last year, is considered extremely athletic and has grown several inches since his sophomore tells you that OU may be getting a big time steal!

They really need a high school big and got one that is 6'10"-6'11" with very good athleticism.....that tells me a lot.

#71 overall in Texas and rivals has him as a 3 star. Im not saying he is a world champion. I think is nice piece LK will do just fine with...

McNeace is a big-time athlete. Energy and defensive presence should translate to immediate minutes. (Spencer Pulliam, recruiting guru)

He'll be better than Jacob Hammond. (who #145ish in the country)

Sounds like he is athletic enough that good coaching would result in a very good player. We've got just the coach.

Good pickup! Is he visiting anywhere else or shutting it down?

Very excited when someone decides to become a Sooner. :OUbball-logo:

Shutting it down I think. He is all in to OU.

I think we pick up 1 more before early signing. Then wait to see what happens.

Agreed. His size and athleticism, combined with the fact that he is moving up in the rankings while he is still adjusting to a rapid growth rate is exciting to me. I'll also add that he is a relative newcomer to the game. An interview I found said he was cut from his high school team as a 5' 11" freshman. That tells me he has made a lot of progress since then, and that the best may like ahead for his kid.

That portion of the interview also says that as a sophomore he would get up early to work out with his coach at 6:00 a.m. before school. If he continues to work hard, as that kind of work ethic seems to suggest, who knows how good this young man can be in the next year or two?

JM: So, I lived in Texas my freshman year and I was kind of undersized. I was 5’11” I was an undersized post, so I didn’t make the team my freshman year. I ended up going to live with my mom for that summer after the school year ended and she ended up making me stay down there for my sophomore year. And from that time, from my freshman year to my sophomore year, I grew a few inches. I was 6’3 going into my sophomore year and about 6’6 coming out. My HS coach decided that I was good enough to start playing ball, he came to my class and talked to me and told me he’ll work with me. So before school, I’d go and work out with him at 6 AM on ball handling, and then I’d go to school, and after school we had practice and he helped me a lot. So he’s a big part of that.

Good Stuff!

I like UT didn't recruit him... Now he gets to hate texas with the rest of us...! Its personal to these kids that doint get recruited by their "home School" to me, that extra motivation!

If he redshirts the way he said he might in the interview, that would make him an RSFr the year Bennett and Hamilton are seniors and Spangler is a junior... that overlap could be extremely beneficial to him, playing bench minutes but not getting exposed and losing confidence. I don't think a 2-star commitment has ever felt so exciting.

Rivals says 3* but I dont get caught up in that. I agree if he RS then it can do nothing but help him and us long term. But if he is ready to play, then its hard to keep athletic and energy guys off the court. Esp if we are trying to score like the Michigan!

Thx Coach. I could have sworn I saw somewhere this kid had West Virginia on high interest but no offer, good to know. What did his other offers end up looking like?
