Conference re-alignment tweet

Central Florida is the only school mentioned that would have a long-term benefit. But, the Big Twelve exists no longer. We had been associated with Nebraska and Missouri for about eighty years, Colorado for about fifty-five. We let the lifeboat from the SWC come aboard, and it cost us our long term allies.

We had been separated from Texas for eighty-one years, and we survived happily. We had only been associated with OSU since 58. It is not necessary to be in a conference with them. Any marriage with Texas should come with a divorce attorney on retainer. They think they are an Independent nation and conference.

I fear that our ship sailed with the failure of the Pac Ten offer. I see no future with the Big Twelve, and Texas will eventually bail on it. We can either set sail for a foreign land or hope that someone throws us a life preserver when this ship sinks. On its own, it will sink, because Texas will leave. We will once again be Oklahoma and the seven dwarfs, but it will cost a lot more to build the conference this time.

OU doesn't need a life preserver. They have an extremely valuable brand, that any conference (aside from the Big 10 for pure academic snobbery reasons) will take OU. OU would likely have to ditch OSU to do that.

I agree. Not one of the Power 5 conferences wouldn't give their left n*t for OU! The real question is that now the Power 5 have their own autonomy and decision making, what is the need for paring down to 4 conferences? Doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Ohio State, who was in arguably the worst football conference (B1G) last year, won the NC, while the mighty SEC didn't make the finals! Had TCU and Hypocrite U been OU and texas, there would have been 2 Big 12 teams in Final 4, IMO. These 2 schools are the BIGGEST mistakes the Big 12 has made to date! Both of them together probably don't entice as many TV views as Iowa State. Sure they have some sugar daddies, being in TX (Drayton McClane for Hypocrite U), the Booger Pickens Bear that can provide them all the money they want but can't provide them TV ratings and I don't think that will ever change. TCU is in DFW area and texas, OU, osu and Tech would draw better TV viewership, thus ratings, thus more money in the future. If we must have a private church school, I say keep TCU and dump Hypocrite U!

Add BYU and any of the following schools and call it a day:

Houston
Marshall
Central Florida
Memphis

BYU doesn't fit IMO. They don't fit personality-wise. They don't fit scheduling-wise, and they don't fit traveling-wise.

Houston, I like everything about them EXCEPT it's another Texas team. Can't do that. We're already too heavy in that state.

Also not a big fan of Memphis.

Start with two teams, and go from there. Cincy just seems too easy. Add them and UCF or USF. Maybe Tulane as an interesting option.
