While parents of AAU players are infamously apathetic as to the character of the AAU coaches to whom they push their children, college programs are far more likely to steer clear of characters like Malone in the modern era of recruiting enforcement.
Guys like this are one of the big reasons I shy away from AAU. I don't care for the shady characters that are involved with it. Maybe not to this extent, but the AAU scene is FULL of guys like this.
No reason for a guy with his history to have any influence on a young kids life and future as far as I'm concerned. Not everyone will agree with me but that is what I think.
