Decade without a win in Ames.

I have to admit, I was more confident about OU winning in Morgantown last week than I am about them getting a victory in Ames over the 2-15 'Clones today.

Hope I'm wrong and that today is, indeed, that day!

Hopefully.... SHOULD but I don’t count any game as a win these days.

Hopefully we either defend the 3 better or they don’t hit 50%+...

Legs should be really rested.

This. ISU did a good job using screens to get open looks from the 3, but the defense also seemed lackadaisical getting to the shooters. Must run them off the 3 point line and force them to take midrange jump shots.

Count on the fact that they will be once again hitting everything against us and defend with that in mind. Can’t have the lapses we had in Norman and we better defend the OOB plays today.

In the end, just win!

They haven’t won a conference game all year, even at home. We are the better team. We have to play like it today.

A decade (or more) of bad play and bad results in Ames and Manhattan has me dreading the next 83 or so hours. One, if not both, will be battles and regardless of how bad their records are, I’ll be thrilled if we can win both. I won’t be remotely surprised if it doesn’t happen, though.

I was just thinking the same thing. So far, OU has avoided the bad loss. Hope it continues today and Tuesday.

I think this team has less sense of entitlement, as compared to previous teams, and it has been making a difference in close battles.

In years past, both venues have been packed with loud, rabid fans who did everything they could to intimidate and distract our players.

This season is different. KSU is 4-12 at home. ISU is 2-7 and they are winless on the road with an 0-8 record. We still have to be ready to play and assume today’s game will be a dog fight from the opening tap to the final buzzer. But, with the usual crowd noise thankfully quieter, I like our chances.

Does that mean I will relax and enjoy the game? Not a chance. I’ll be chewing on my nails and cuticles from start to finish. 😝

I don't expect much homer officiating because neither of those teams are going anywhere.

This will be a tough game. Solomon is a tough matchup for us. I want to see what kur can do against him today.

Agree, he gives us fits even when he is playing poorly against everyone else. And I understand people pointing out the lack of fans, but there is still something about the venue itself that seems to bring out the worst in us.

If we truly are a team in the Top 10-15 range then we win today. This would be a bad loss by any metric one cares to measure. A Top 10-15 team goes in there, gets on them from the opening tip, and imposes its will for the full 40 minutes. I've been waiting a LONG time to see this wretched streak end, and today is the day.

I don't care if it's pretty. I don't care if it's ugly. I just want to win.

Obviously we all know we are the better team and need to take care of business. But one game doesn’t determine whether a team is a top 10 or 15 team. Ohio State lost to Northwestern. Houston lost to East Carolina. Virginia lost to San Francisco. Creighton lost to Butler. Really good teams occasionally lose to really bad teams. It happens. It hasn’t happened to us this year but we have two potential land mines our next two games. Winning both would mean we would have a clean resume and really help our seed in three weeks. Let’s get it done!!!

LOL already greasing the excuse skids. Of course an upset can happen any time, any day. That's college basketball. But OU hasn't won in Ames in a very long time. OU is at full strength. Iowa State hasn't won a conference game. It would be embarrassing if OU was the first. K-State beat this team in Ames. Like '04 said, if OU is as good and as tough as everybody thinks, they should absolutely go in there and take care of business. They need to be mentally tough and make it happen.

OK, now it's time to tell us how great Iowa State actually is! LOL

What the hell are you talking about? In no way, shape, or form is a loss today acceptable and I never suggested otherwise. All I said is that if is silly to proclaim that one game can definitively show that a team is or isn’t a top 10 team. I also never suggested Iowa State is good. To the contrary, I call them a really bad team.

I guess our football team wasn’t a top 10 team this year since we lost at home to a bad KSU team that had approximately 100 guys out due to Covid and was playing guys out of position all over the field. Probably should have just called off the rest of the season at that point.

Wasn’t trying to attack you if that’s how you took it. No hard feelings. Just think we need to win, and it felt like you were already making excuses. My bad!

Of course we need to win but a loss wouldn't negate the team's other accomplishments. It would be a bad loss, period -- our first. And as WS rightly pointed out, plenty of the other top 10/15 teams have bad losses on their records and no one's questioning their rankings.

Thanks for always chiming in!
