What are the pros and cons of going to a defensive 3 second rule in D-1 women's basketball?

If they added that rule and shortened the shot clock to 25-30 seconds, would it increase scoring and excitement to the game?

Defensive 3 second doesn't prevent double team I don't think but it would prevent a typical 2-3 zone defense.

I think if they added the 3 second rule plus a 25 second clock it very possibly would generate more scoring and speed up the action of play. Many teams are seeing attendance falling so something needs to be done.

There are either too many officials in the big-12 who could never figure it out or would just refuse to call it. That is what happened a lot this year with the freedom of movement rule. It was simply ignored and the game got more and more physical.

In the Texas UConn game the announcers expressed marvel at times about how rough and physical the game was. They stated that they had never seen Stewart knocked down so many times. Our inside players were knocked down a lot this year - but the officials just refused to put a stop to it.

Scoring will never go up unless the NCAA takes the most serious steps to control the officials and demand they enforce the rules.

The low scoring is hurting WBB in a big way. It is one of the main reasons attendance is in trouble all over the country.
