I was thinking with Missouri being gone next year, They may bring it back to maybe OKC or Dallas. What are the chances the Big 12 doesn't bring it back to KC?

I think they are signed up for at least one, if not two more. The women may be in Dallas next year.

MU shouldn't have any bearing as to whether they play in KC or not. I tire of people arguing that the money shouldn't be spent in Mo. with no team in Mo.

The men's tourney is in Kansas City through 2014. The women's tourney is in Dallas next year and in OKC in 2014. 2015 is open for both tourneys.

after this contract is up it should never be in the State of Missouri again. In fact the league should immediately adopt a policy making it a violation of league rules for any championship event to be in St. Louis or KC.

The NCAA and Big 12 is all about money. KU is the biggest draw so at least the men's tournament will be in KC many times more than it should be. They don't care about fair.

Well if that's the case maybe they should take out KC and add Wichita to the rotation. I don't see any reason to play in Missouri again.

What is the big hard on with Missouri? The tourney being in KC has nothing to do with MU. Do you think that OKC was clamoring for the old Holiday tourney? There's been a tourney in KC for 40 years - long before this league ever thought of sniffing Texas. I don't have a problem with other sites having the games but this attitude is rubbish.

The men's tournament should stay in KC, it gets the best fan support there.

Only b/c KU is normally good, and playing in most all of the rounds. Now with Mizzou gone, we'll see what the turnout is like next year. Sorry, but I'm sick of reading comments like this. I saw plenty of empty seats that first night.

Edit: And much like every other sporting event, butts in the seats isn't what puts money in the bank. I'm guessing tickets sold between KC, Dallas, and OKC are about the same. The tickets are sold, so even if KC has a few more fans actually show up, the Big 12 really shouldn't care too much about that.

It's called WHY would the Big-12 put millions of TAX dollars in the state of Missouri's pockets when they wanted nothing to do with us. NEVER should KC have any of our events again -NEVER!!!!!!!!!!! And the money made is as good in OKC and DALLAS asd all the tickets are sold. And don't give me any of the "butts in seats" crap as there mostly empty seats for alot of the games.

NO MORE MONEY TO THE STATE OF MISSOURI - they are SEC

It won't stay in KC now. After 2014 it is moving to Dallas most years, houston or okc every 3rd year. Coaches want it in texas for recruiting. Like football BB coaches want to lock down Texas recruiting

Wow. You got me there. I have no response. I'd call this post moronic but I'd hate to insult any morons that might be reading this.

Butts in the seats? Yeah, can't wait for them packing the rafters in Houston and Dallas for that ISU/WVU game. Can you imagine the throngs of OU, OSU, and Tech fans flocking to see their teams one and done after not showing up at games all year? As I said I have no problem with rotation or whatever. I go to the women's games as opposed to the mens. Your reasoning is ridiculous. Did your momma get scared by a Tiger when she was pregnant? Should no tax dollars to to the state of Texas because A$M jumped ship? BTW, the Sprint Center is about two miles from Kansas, not down in the Boot Heel. The tourney pumps about 60$ million into the local(read Kansas and Missouri) economy and not just into state coffers. Businesses as well as people in both states benefit from the weekend. Store owners, waiters, waitresses, etc., all make money and in turn spread the money throughout the local economy.

KCRuf - Well, thanks for calling me a Moron or worse - so much for the rules on this board about NOT attacking posters. This board is usually fairly intelligent and civil - your post was NOT.
So what part of my post is moronic by the way - what part of what I said is UNTRUE? Most of the tax dollars DO go to the state of Missouri don't they? MORON? I have been to KC many times and most of the people stay AND eat and are intertained IN MISSOURI - MORON??? Aren't they, HUH???? MORON???? VERY LITTLE IS "PUMPED" INTO KANSAS hotrod. Obviously you live in KC and are a HOMER for the tourney being there. But you will soon find yourself on the outside looking in on this subject as all the other MORONS that will decide this happen to feel the same way. OU/OSU/Texas/BAYlor/Tech or 5 out of 8 have NO DESIRE to travel to KU/KSU hometown AND put 60 million into an economy that said a big NO to the Big-12 (didn't they hotrod? - MU and the state of Missery has been trying to punt the Bid-12 for 3 years). So again, tell me, other than your homer heartfelt opinion, what part of my post is not true and is Moronic. Hmmmm. OKC has as good or better site to host with Bricktown and entertainment and hotels all in SHORT walking distance. And it is much more centrally located for all the schools.

It makes as much sense for the tournament to be in Missouri as it would for the tourney to be in Arkansas or New Mexico. Why should the Big XII tournament and it's fans support the economy of a state that moved to another conference? The SEC conference is welcome to add KC to their tournament rotation.

This

KU fans will travel so placing the tourney in Dallas or OKC will not result in fewer KU fans. In fact, I flew from KC to Houstonthis past week and changed planes in OKC. The old big 12 store is now an ea sports store with OU, OSU, and Thunder apparel. I spoke with the manager and she said the hottest selling memorabilia when it was the big 12 store was the KU stuff. They also have a huge alumni base in DFW as well as in Oklahoma.

The fans that attend when it's in KC who won't travel (to OKC or DFW) as well are the ISU fans and of course MU. If KSU is good, their fans travel in droves. Hopefully, the 2 Oklahoma schools will improve enough to buy those seats when it's in OKC.

I apologize for calling the post moronic. Nothing about you. And certainly nothing worse. Seems you don't have that problem though. I don't know what the breakdown is for where the tax dollars go. Pretty obvious you don't either. Maybe instead of wearing out the caps key you could do some research. I know quite a few people that stayed, ate, and shopped in Kansas. I know even more that earned money and went back to Kansas and spent it. I do live in KC(as obviously you don't) and could personally care less if it's here or not. As I stated, I go to the womens games, not the mens. I want nothing to do with an excuse for tens of thousands of KU and MU fans to be in the same place. Has nothing to do with being a homer. As I stated(funny, I keep referring to what I said like maybe you didn't read it. MAYBE I DIDN'T TYPE IT CORRECTLY), I have no problem with rotation. Nowhere in there did I want to take my ball and run home with it. No, I don't know what OU/OSU/Texas/Baylor/Tech fans want anymore than you know what KU/KSU/ISU fans feel about traveling to Houston/Dallas. And I don't know what the state of Missouri feels about it all. The school named Missouri opted to go elsewhere. The same elsewhere that OU, OSU, Texas, and Tech(right?) wanted to go not too long ago. Why should Oklahoma and Texas get tax dollars from something that includes members that didn't want to be a part of the league either(per your reasoning not mine)? Of course I don't believe that but according to you that's reason enough. Let OKC host it. Let Dallas host it. Let Houston host it. I don't care. Part of all this roation and whatnot also had to do with sharing the football game. I had no problem with either.

It makes as much sense for the tournament to be in Missouri as it would for the tourney to be in Arkansas or New Mexico. Why should the Big XII tournament and it's fans support the economy of a state that moved to another conference? The SEC conference is welcome to add KC to their tournament rotation.

Why do people equate it being in Missouri to being in the outer limits. I don't have a map in front of me but I would bet the three remaining schools are closer to KC than the Texas schools are to Houston(I could be wrong). Are you going to lobby for West Virginia to be included in the rotation? Just wanting to make sure all members get their fair share of the taxes.

I agree. There is zero reason for the Big XII to sponsor events that put money into the Missouri economy.

Let's just do it in Vegas...neutral site, everyone wins.
