Doug Gottlieb and the Oklahoma State job

I've heard Larry Brown's name thrown around. Please let this be true. He can put the final nail in the coffin that is OsU basketball.

He is 75 yo. Thats 5 years younger than Eddie. Might as well hire Eddie back if they were to higher him.

Pat Jones says he's hearing Buzz Williams. FWIW.

Buzz gets mentioned b/c he graduated from oklahoma city university and his sister lives here. He was raised in Texas though.

His last 3 years as a head coach has been pretty bad.
17-15
11-22
18-13

I don't see how OSU could buy out Ford and then buyout Buzz with the way he has been producing lately.

Stick with Ford... get to a few more NCAA Tournaments, and then fire him. They gain nothing by firing him now, and lose a ton.

What they gain is another coach inheriting a top notch(McD AA) PG and one of the best shooters in the country.

I think it would be the right time for anyone to land Marshall. They are losing 4 starters. Their top 3 guys. Wichita isn't to far away from Stillwater. He loses Van Fleet and Baker and he gets Evans and Forte. Evans for 3 more years.

If OSU doesn't go all out, 100% for Marshall, they would be a bigger fool then they were when they gave Ford that contract.

Either way, Ford isn't leaving the next coach garbage. He's leaving the next coach a team that can come in and get back to winning.

Missouri hired an ex-Mizzou player who has coaching experience, in fact he won 2 Div 2 NC's at Central Missouri. He's failed miserably at Mizzou, which I would consider a better program than OSU over the last 40 years and since Eddie Sutton left OSU. In fact, Mizzou announced today he will return next year which means he has one more year to show progress.

I would also add it's much easier to win in the SEC than the Big 12.

In short, it would be a huge mistake for OSU to hire Gottlieb at this point in time.

You can't compare any former player to Doug Gottlieb. He's a big name that recruits know. He's been on ESPN and CBS for a long time now. Recruits listen to him daily.

Since he has never coached in his life...There is no way to say he would be good or bad.....I just hope who ever they hire is as bad at coaching as Travis Ford.

What other job would you say that about? No experience is generally a bad thing in all but the most entry-level type of jobs. There is a see of regulatory red-tape, there is the whole "being able to teach people who are at least a generation younger than you are" thing. There is the technical side of it, which is probably the only thing you could safely assume he's got. There is the whole keeping boosters happy thing, which is pretty trickly when you consider the egos involved. No experience is far from a neutral thing here. It is clearly a negative.
