I am watching this game. My first observation is that Miss. St. is not very good. But Duke is about as weak.

In fact Duke has 15 games this year with over 20 turnovers. According to the announcers they had 27 TO's in their first round game.

Duke shooting 54% but trailing because of 9 turnovers? 14-13 after 12:34?

Halftime stats on this game are weird.
Mississippi State 28-24
FG%: Mississippi State 30.3% Duke 55.6%
Rebounds: Mississippi State 14 Duke 20
Turnovers: Mississippi State 4 Duke 14

It is almost all about Duke's turnovers. But, that hides something just as strange. Mississippi State is hitting only 3 of 16 from two, but 7 of 17 from three. Duke has only taken 18 shots from the field to State's 33, hitting ten. Mississippi State has taken almost as many threes as Duke has taken shots.

Duke's Cooper looks to have sustained a serious injury. Not what you want when you are struggling to win tourney games.

8:52 Duke has exploded out to a 46-39 lead because they have zero turnovers in the second half. Still shooting lights out.

For all the All Americans that Duke has they are not much. Joanne P isn't much of a coach either. Duke had 27 turnovers against ALBANY on Friday. If you let them play a half court game they look much better but if you press and force the tempo, they don't look good at all. Miss State is playing halfcourt game.

Their forwards are 6-3, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, and 6-5.

Why aren't they a 1-seed?

Duke shoots a high percentage. But, they pay for that height at the free throw line (10 of 23).
They finished 12 of 27.

This game which has no impact on anything we are doing is the perfect example of what is happening in women's basketball.

You just witnessed the exact meaning of home cooking officiating. The official who completely missed the call - likely intentionally - also calls Big-12 games. Duke won lots of games at home this exact way. On the road they were absolutely miserable.

The Duke player used her forearm to knockdown the MSU player. But this lame-head official called the foul on the MSU player. She knew if she called it correctly it would foul out the Duke player - who is rough and a bit dirty. You will likely get to see it several times today because it is not only a horrible call at an extremely critical moment - but also a very dirty play. This Duke player was doing this kind of thing all day.

When the MSU coach argued she instantly called a technical on him. Perhaps this was her plan all along. Game over.

She had to have seen what really happened. It was too obvious. She wanted to call it that way. The game was getting too close, and MSU was making a big run. She did not like that.

Officials who do those kind of things should be fined 10 games worth of pay and not allowed to call another game for a year. That would stop that kind of trash.

Even the announcers called it home court cooking. There is absolutely no excuse for not forcing such an official to sit before the media and explain why they did such a thing. It was a call that could not possibly be missed. It was out in the open. Every person in the arena knew what happened - including this official - and the other 2 officials. There is just no way to condone this as "she missed it". But in a perfect example of what is going on in our society she won't be held accountable. No one wants to take responsibility for their mistakes or to hold others responsible for their mistakes.

That's why Duke is so deadly at home, and rather pathetic on the road. They even lost at Boston College. But, they held serve at home except for ND and SC.
