DUKE Starting PG to Transfer

I'm not going to see what a player does per minute. that stat is pointless. It doesn't explain when they came in and how they were used.

it may not be everything but the way you feel about per minute stats is the way many of us feel about your love of recruiting stars:ez-laugh:

How about this comparison: 19 points against VCU for Thornton. 0 points for James against VCU.

Can I say mutual parting...

Exactly, Coach K didn't "drop him". If Thornton really wanted to stay and compete for the job, be a solid back-up or try to fit in somewhere else on the floor, K isn't going to tell him no. Thornton is the final decision maker in this scenario.

Yeah and many folks said that about frank booker when I brought that to the several folks PM and to this board long before it was public knowledge. Or when Jelon was leaving long before anyone else knew.

Thorton is a very good player. Not saying he is trash. He is a good player.
BUT
:lon thinks Young is worth waiting...

Booker and Thornton aren't even on the same level. Booker is gone b/c we got better recruits.

Thornton is gone b/c he was talked into leaving a year earlier and then Allen didn't leave for the NBA and they are bringing in the number 2 SF and a top 5 PG to go along with Allen, Kennard and Jones. There are not enough minutes for all the guards and its not whether he can beat out Jackson for minutes but he knows whats best for him isn't a deduction in minutes as well b/c either way, both players would be playing next year. 6 talented guards competing for 3 spots isn't worth it.

Thornton needs a redshirt year so that his age and grade will be n'sync and he won't be able to redshirt him at Duke b/c Duke will not sit someone that they can use right now. You just don't redshirt players who might not stay 4 years.

Haha...so a PG, whose not ranked higher than Thornton is a game changer?

So we would turn down the number 1 overall PG according to Scout for the number 3 overall PG according to scout...who has been coached under Coach K(You know, the guy who has won 5 nat'l championships) who will get to sit out a year and then be a redshirt sophomore and that guy won't be a program changer but Young as a true freshman will be?

Just another post by bgrch about recruiting rankings. You do realize people like James Hale assign recruit rankings to these kids right?

If Capel were recruiting Young you would be saying he's the next coming of John Stockton or Michael Jordan. Heck, you thought Carl Blair was a good signing back in the day. :ez-laugh:

He is a very strange OU fan. Seems like a terrible fit for our fanbase - you are just not going to consistently get 5 stars at Oklahoma. Good thing it isn't the only way to win as Sampson and now Kruger have proven.

You can win games without them and even make it to the final 4. But 5 stars have been winning national championships and big 12 championships. I'm sure winning those things mean nothing to you all.

1st of all. I have not yet once downgraded the talent of Young.

I want young. I hope we get Young. However, if you said...Thornton wanted to come here or you can wait to see what Young decides to do, then bring on Thornton.

People on here criticized Capel for putting his eggs all in one basket.

You can make it to the Final Four once a decade with three star players but not on a consistent basis. It takes 4-5 star players to get their consistently.

I agree with you bgrch, If thornton wants to come to OU, LK would welcome him with open arms. There will be another guard spot opening up next year when Woodard leaves. Can have two ball handlers on the court at the same time.

Exactly.

If 3 star recruits were winning championships...I wouldn't be wanting 5 star recruits. As I look over the last 20 champions, I see nothing but teams with at least 1 5 star recruit on their roster. And everytime there is one in this state...They seem to always bolt somewhere else...besides Griffin. Everyone thought Trier was one and done and he's staying another year at Zona.

First, you are the only one claiming he's "putting all his eggs in one basket". I don't see that at all. Nobody here knows if he will take Thornton or not but does it really matter anyway? Is Thornton interested in OU? If not, then why does it matter?

Second, LK hasn't come close to near as many recruiting faux-pau's as Capel so for you to even make the comparison is way way off.

We already talked about Thornton on him most likely not even interested.

As for Capel, It took him 3 years to get to the Elite 8 off of his recruiting and it took LK 5 years to get pass the sweet 16 so I think I can compare the 2 in regards of recruiting.

Theres always juco PG's available for Kruger to take.

Even you must have been blushing in shame as you composed that post.
