DUKE Starting PG to Transfer

I was just kidding. Sounds like he want to be out west.

I'll believe it when I see it. Ucla has 2 point guards. Maybe usc. Cal looks to be in trouble. I don't see him going to a non power conference. I take Close to home to be within 5 hours of driving. I think he will go anywhere outside of the acc and who knows who will get him. Wouldn't be shocked to see Kansas going after him.

I doubt he lands there. He's obviously not interested in 5-star competition, so I doubt he will pick a school which can supply that. After the Peyton Pritchard fiasco, I don't see Lon Kruger waiting around for Trae Young to decide. If he has an opportunity to get this guy, he'll go after him.

Frank Jackson is the problem...Thornton got recruited over and he knows it.

This. This has nothing to do with Bolden unless Duke plans to put him at the point. There just won't be room for Thornton at the point next year.

Thornton was the only true point guard on the team. Good teams bring in more than one good point guard. If he doesn't want competition at the point, then he better pick a small college to transfer to.

So if Thornton or Simon want to commit Kruger will pass?

From what I hear from good people yes.

Young is a program changer ala Blake. Simon and Thornton aren't. Young is from Norman. Have to risk a little

Haha...so a PG, whose not ranked higher than Thornton is a game changer?

So we would turn down the number 1 overall PG according to Scout for the number 3 overall PG according to scout...who has been coached under Coach K(You know, the guy who has won 5 nat'l championships) who will get to sit out a year and then be a redshirt sophomore and that guy won't be a program changer but Young as a true freshman will be?

There will be a scholarship here for Young even if we take this guy.

Somebody is going to transfer after next season, there will be way too many freshmen and sophomores on the roster, and the minutes will not be there for someone. I also think Lattin is a potential early entrant if he has a leap this year.

Agree. It doesn't seem to hurt other programs to have 2 solid PG's.

It's the same scenario but in reverse.

Young is less likely to commit if another top PG is here, even though Young is likely better.

And yet he will commit to another school that has another PG on their roster.

If he doesn't come here b/c we have another PG on our roster than he wasn't coming here anyways. Murray and Briscoe still came even with Ulis on the roster and Fox committed before any of them entered the draft. Jackson still committed to Duke with Thornton on the roster. Graham committed with Mason on the roster.

If we brought in Simon or Thornton and Young didn't come here...he wasn't coming anyways.

Thorton is no longer the #1 pg you speak of... Coach K dropped him yes he's won 5 nattys!

Some kids dont live up to thier rankings, happens every year. See chucky at KU.

Thorton isnt a game changer. Or he wouldnt be leaving Duke.

Young would be avg more than 7ppg at duke. next year and start over thorton if thats what you are asking.

Let's just talk about the last one.
1) site your source where coach k told him to leave
2) just because he's leaving duke doesn't make him not good. Just look at gbinije at Syracuse.
3) if he is overrated, he would still be ranked higher than young this year.
4) explain to me why you think he is overrated?

1. Never site sources #1 rule
2. Not saying thorton isnt good, Im saying young is clearly better and coach LK and Coach K both see that.
3. Rankings suck, Lot of folks were rated higher than Buddy, LK has identified who he'd rahter have more and so has Coach K. Not my facts, theirs.
4. 5star blah blah blah, Ranked #2 Pg last year, graduated HS early for Duke and then duke said bye. All facts

Young would have averaged over 7ppg this year for Duke. :ez-roll: You always think the guy coming in is better than the one that is already there.

You do realize that Duke had Allen, Jones, Kennard, and Ingram along with Thornton playing the guard spots.

Young is clearly better? He didn't even win the high school championship this year.

Coach K recruited guys over Gbinije and he just took Syracuse to a final 4.

Not true. Backup QB doesnt apply here.

Coach K didn't drop Thornton, he left b/c he wasn't going to be "the guy" at point. Didn't want to face any competition.
