OU WBB teams will not be as successful as we are accustomed to without elite players. Look at the history of this program, and the proof is there. Without elite players this year or next, we won't do well. It's that simple.

Perhaps in 2016, if the commitments stayed committed, we will see a change for the better. Otherwise, I do not expect OU WBB to be anything but mediocre. It's more than just today's game; it was all of last season, this season thus far, and predictably, next season.

If all it is is mediocre, hang it up and we'll see you in 2016.

It is worse than mediocre - it is pathetic. The irony is that OU has at least seven national Top 100 players. You have Ortiz, Little, Manning, Kornet, Pierre-Louis, Kay Kay Williams, and Campbell-Olds.

That makes you wonder about what is happening in the coaching.

+1. 2016 should be a better class with Dungee and Mulkey and Llanusa in 2017.
I've said it once and I've said it before. Coach coale is a Lazy recruiter. She settles. If you want someone you go all out to get them. She even said it herself she hates recruiting. Only if she knows/ already signed the player.

IMO. 2016 and 2017 will be our make it our break it. Only have 1 SCholly for 2016 and let's be realistic people. We will NOT. Sign the likes of Cox of Holmes so lets just hang it up.

Step 1. 2017 will be a MONSTER class for guards and Athleticsm, already have Llanusa so I would be busting my Tail and praying to The Lord above we get a commit from Johnson! Or 2016 Wilson of Muskogee;, 2017 B Franks of Norman, Or any others in the top 100. Start with a solid foundation which we have and build from it! Look at the talent in the 2016,2017,2018 class in the state Alone! Why are these not our Priorities ? Questions staff should ask themselves.

I would HATE to have a repeat of seasons before where all the top talent in the state leaves the state cause of mediocre recruiting.

I would be Embarassed if I were Sherri if Big time schools Such as Baylor, A&M, Texas , Maryland ( All with National Championships) are after Oklahoma recruits and making them top priorities at that mean while I have no idea What Sherri is doing.

Just Venting my opinions. This is getting Rediculous! I just never understood Sherri's recruiting tactics. Being an OU alumni and huge supporters for OU womens basketball and I will back this team up 100% but something has got to give!

Some of us have been saying for sometime that OU doesn't have the talent we need to compete with the big girls. A few refuse to listen and continue to say we have plenty of talent. Pardon the French but that's BS. When we sign players who are not highly recruited, we are settling for lesser players. That has to change if we can even think of getting back to the days of attending a final four. Right now, we are not anywhere close to having that kind of talent. Sherri is the only one who can change the direction of our recruiting and she better not wait long.

It isn't that hard. One could have watched the Texas/A&M game and then the OU/Arkansas game today. It is obvious. anyone could see it. In the 1st game, those teams were putting a different caliber player on the floor.

I like our girls. I have never heard even a hint or whisper that the girls were doing anything other than working hard and doing what they were asked to do to the best of their ability. But, they are going to find themselves overmatched with some frequency as the season goes along.

You would think that anyone could see that we don't have the talent the good teams do but apparently some don't watch the games with their glasses on.

Just watch, when we beat Yale, you will again hear that we have plenty of talent. :)

Another sad thing is OSU beat USC on the road today. Little sister to the north has probably gone past us too.

I'm afraid you're right. When did it become easier to recruit to Stillwater than to Norman? Do black players find that area to be more cultural friendly than around Norman?

It's not the coaching. We need better players. It's the recruiting.

How many times do we miss lay-ups, miss wide open shots, dribble the ball off of our foot, get blown by because we are slow... Good players don't do that. Mediocre players do.

These guys are trying. They are running the sets right. And then they just can't finish. We literally struggle to finish every play. I think they are being coached just fine. I just don't think they are good enough to consistently execute.

Let's talk about all those great OSU players who have played in the Final Four. Elite Eight? Anywhere?

I'm starting to feel better about Cox, if we can get in her top 5 schools I would feel even better. Mulkey could turn in to a great player, but from what I've heard and based on her lack of playing time with Team USA, it could take her longer then most of us are hopping for.

At this stage of her career, Griner probably wouldn't have played on the national team either.

Again, everyone is saying that OU does not have talent. However, if you go look at ESPN Hoop Gurlz, you find this. These are the same national 100 lists that UConn, Baylor, Texas, and everybody else is recruiting from. There are 350+ D1 women's basketball teams and OU has 7 National 100 players. It is insane that OU can't beat a team like Arkansas that had only 1 National 100 player. In addition, these lists include all of players that everyone on the board wants OU to get.

It is hard to believe that every National 100 player is a bust. Somewhere coaching has to be part of the equation. Somehow these players get to OU and start playing like they are on a junior high team.

Sharane Campbell-Olds - No. 90 Overall (ESPNU HoopGurlz 100)
Kaylan Williams - No. 59 Overall (ESPNU HoopGurlz 100)
Nicole Kornet - No. 19 Overall (ESPNU HoopGurlz 100)
Maddie Manning - No. 33 Overall (ESPNU HoopGurlz 100)
Peyton Little - No. 30 Overall (ESPNU HoopGurlz 100)
ViVi Pierre-Louis - Rated No. 83 Overall (ESPN HoopGurlz 100)
Gabbi Ortiz - Rated No. 14 Overal (ESPN HoopGurlz 100)

So, what do we make of what Coach Coale actually said about the team and game in her post-game interview.
1. This team just isn't any good right now.
2. The coaches told the players what they needed to do and the players did not do it.
3. In particular, they stood around.

Also, in the clip shown on TV before the start of the second half, she told the team that the key to success was that they needed to continuously talk to each other, and that from that their energy would come.

The way we are playing now we probably have a chance to only beat K-State, Tech and maybe Iowa State on the road and few others at home. Maybe Kansas and Oklahoma State. That is probably between 8-12 and 6-10. I suspect Arkansas is equal or slightly less capable that the middle of the Big 12 pack. I have seen Sherri's teams improve a great deal in season in previous years. Hopefully this will be another one.

Here are the scary facts. Of the 5 players starting at the beginning of the season, only 4 played tonight. 9 of 28 shooting, 0 for 5 behind the arc. 25 total points. 13 rebounds, 5 assists, 16 fouls, 8 turnovers. And we couldn't be certain that KayKay would have added much to the total other than fouls.

Not a great base to build on.

We were not getting many open shots, they were. we allowed so much penetration we were unable to set up block outs for rebounds. Rarely did we have more than one player go for an offensive rebound or block out on defense.

How many conference wins are you predicting?

I watch the games, enjoy the competition have a favorite player or two and am sad to see them go after four years.

I don't predict. The only occupation in which one can win at predicting is mortician (weathermen are making a run at it though they are about as successful as some on this board.)

I sat in LNA when there were fewer than 500 in attendance and I sat when it was packed. I root for the Sooners through the highs and the lows.

I am perplexed by our recent performance level but no less adamant in my support. I know one thing for sure, I know too little to know, not opine, know what changes need to be made. I worked for years with university students in areas that were subjective (athletic performance is subjective) and while an accredited and acknowledged teacher in my discipline, there were times when talented, driven, motivated, conscientious students failed at what they were trying to do and I didn't know how to help them.

I would just like to have something positive to talk about. The past is the past. The concern now is the present and the future which relative to our conference peers is not getting better. Focusing on the past is living with your head in the sand.

Our last regular season B12 championship was 2006. Our last B12 tournament championship was 2007. So with the exception of getting hot in the tournament in 2009 and 2010 OU WBB has been little more than mediocre for seven years. It is what it is.

The girls in our 2015 class were in the 7th grade when we last made the Final Four and in the 4th grade the last time we won a conference championship. Today's kids ask what do last year, the year before. They could care less about what happened when they were in grade school.

During that time our last championship OU has paid Sherri better than $5 million dollar and her program has lost better than $10 million. I don't think we are getting what we are paying to get. Especially when Sherri's stated goal for the program is to annually compete for the conference and national championships.

I would feel differently if Sherri's stated goal was to win the conference a couple years every decade, maybe. If you want to win championships recruit the players necessary to win championships.
