Enjoy the kid while you can

I imagine he will be a 1st rounder this year. There was some nba talent on the court last night on both teams. I also think Vlad will be drafted. Big, coordinated players who have good touch are still valuable in the nba.
Wolf is 68th on the updated ESPN draft big board and Goldin doesn’t even make the list (which includes 100 players). Fears is the only certain NBA player from last night’s game. Goldin may have had a chance a generation ago, but not now. He has attempted two 3s in his career and is a mediocre free throw shooter. Think of it this way: Hunter Dickinson is a much better college player and has almost no chance of playing in the NBA.

Interesting. I'd still be having nightmares of Goldin if OU lost that game. He also hit almost every one of his free throws with most of them hitting nothing but net. If he was bad at this prior, it looks like it's an area where he is improving. I will guarantee some team is going to at least give this guy a chance.

Depends what you mean by giving him a chance. He absolutely won’t be drafted. Teams need bodies to fill out rosters for summer league and camp so he may get an invite to something like that, but he just doesn’t have any of the attributes that play in the modern NBA.

I would like to see how the season plays out, but I will be more specific. I predict he will be on an NBA roster at some point next season. He's very efficient down low, and there is often a roster spot for someone like that, even if it's at the end of the bench.

I respect you for being specific and very bold. I don’t agree, but that’s a much clearer take than when people say so-and-so could be an NBA player or has a shot! 😊

I think both Wolf and Vlad will get drafted and make a team. How good will they be, hard to say in the modern NBA. Agree with most that Wolf is the better NBA project. There is still a need for monsters in the paint, even ones that can't shoot or guard on the perimeter.

I’d just ask if you can think of any examples of guys like that unless they are truly dominant in the paint. Heck, this time last year, there was still a question whether Edey would get drafted, and he is significantly bigger and better than Goldin.

Get real dude. He was the 9 overall pick.

Edey is averaging 11 points and 7 boards per game. Right in line with Alex Sarr scoring and better in rebounding. And he's doing way better than Donovan Clingan so far.

I think we are gonna see the three point line moved back soon because too many teams are shooting too many 3s and turning people off of it. And it's inflating scoring making it look like it's good basketball when it's really not. And the viewership is dropping in basketball the most. But we'll see. College has the same type problems that and it feels like there's a whistle every time down the court.

Go back and find some articles from the start of last season, dude.

Why would someone look at some (completely incorrect) projections in random articles, when they can just look at what actually transpired in real life?

Wichita, just a guess. But i think teams will take a flier on them. There are a bunch of players like them. Adams, hartenstein, clingon, rudy gobert, etc. in any event they are really good collegiate players and I would love to have one of them.

Because the point is this: at this time last year, Edey was a 7’4” dominant college player who was the reigning national POY, and it was still uncertain whether he would be drafted, let alone in the first round. He came back for his senior year largely because it was unclear if he had an NBA future. He ended up having an even more incredible season and played himself up draft boards.

If Vlad grows 4 inches in the next six months, becomes as skilled as Edey, and essentially doubles his scoring and rebounding while also becoming an elite defender at the college level, he has a shot. There is a reason you won’t find his name on a single legitimate draft board. One game where he played very well against a team with no inside presence isn’t going to make NBA teams draft a guy who in no way fits the modern sport.

Edited to add, Vlad will be 24 at the time of the draft. Teams don’t want to draft dudes that old, especially when they would still be developmental players. By comparison, Hartenstein was drafted at 19.

My main point is, I think people drastically underestimate how difficult it is to get drafted or make the NBA. A huge percentage of picks are underclassmen and foreign players.

Wolf and Vlad are totally different players. Wolf has at least a somewhat realistic chance based on his skill. And I fully agree, I’d love to have either. I said during the game Wednesday that it feels almost unfair that they have both of them while we haven’t had a single good big in what feels like approximately 1,000 years.

Hey, i am no expert and you might be right. I agree it seems like forever since ee have a quality “true” big. Have we had one since stacy king? Can’t think of one. I view blake griffin as a power forward. I’m with, I would take either one of them in a heartbeat.

Jabari Brown was basically a true center. Longar Longar, Jumani McNease is probably the last true center we had that played a lot.
