Football question

I still would like you to explain why you bash people for complaining about the football team but you have no problem doing it about the basketball team.

We are 1 win away from making the CFP, which would mean we advanced further than the basketball team has in any season over the past decade. It's pretty simple.

Some of you were also confident this group of WRs was a massive upgrade. I’m not sure why, after four years, we should just have blind faith that it’ll be much better next year.

You realize Sategna is a newcomer, right? The person you were praising in your previous post, saying he is too good not to get more touches despite being on pace for >1K yards. These WRs are unequivocally better than the decimated receiver room from last year.

And we have not had bad offenses for four straight years. We have been top 25 in scoring offense twice, including a top 5 finish.

It's really impressive how consistently you get facts wrong.

Didn’t realize you were a mouthpiece for the poster I was replying to so I’ll let him speak for himself. He’s an intelligent poster so I know he is perfectly capable of doing so.

Nothing is going to change this year. There is no magic wand to wave to fix things.
Crowd sounded great on TV. Kudos.

I'm complaining about the offense because I see things that are needlessly doing harm to the greater cause. From the moment we went up 14-3 we should've had one eye on the clock every single snap. If I had the time, I'd go back and see how often we snapped the ball with 10+ seconds on the PC with a running clock. The amount of free time we gave Mizzou was infuriating. As a team that is utterly incapable of stretching a defense through the vertical passing game, why on Earth call a deep out to the sideline on 3rd and 2 from midfield? We just brought in a RB with fresh legs and lined him up as a boundary receiver! We have the best FG kicker in America......we're 15 yards from three more points and a two-TD lead. And the call is 20-yards downfield on a route we haven't completed in two months? Sheesh !!

All that said, I'm so excited for next Saturday. It is an absolute pleasure to watch this defense go to work. I've been chirping for a few weeks with worry about the backend but those dudes came to play today. Several times they made the hit on the big Mizzou horse on the stretch play. Coverage was shored up, at least from my amateur viewpoint. 10-2 was a pipe dream after the Ole Miss loss. Now we're staring down the barrel of a home playoff game, assuming the committee doesn't screw us and prop the Irish up to 8. Bastards.
