Nobody proved that OU fans are clueless more than Gabriel. “Not an NFL qb.” Hahaha.Yeah let’s chase Mateer off already like we did Gabriel.

I think they will save him for conference imo and/or possibly bowl gameHawkins can play in 4 regular season games and still redshirt. I suspect this week and the Kent St game will be two of those.
Mateer is gone after this year:

I think he’ll go pro.Is he out of eligibility? If not, why would he leave? He throws way too many sidearm passes to think he'd be a high draft pick at this point. But if he has eligibility left, he'll make a lot of money in college next year.
Lol, I’m taking CT’s comment to be that he’s going to NFL?Yeah let’s chase Mateer off already like we did Gabriel.

I’m just projecting. No scout here either.I'm not a scout so I'm not going to argue with you. He doesn't strike me as a 1st round pick but wouldn't mind being wrong. Since we're in the NIL era, I can't see a QB who can make a ton of money in college leave early for the NFL unless he was good enough to be a 1st round pick.
this is not currently the planMateer is gone after this year:
that is the plan to RS him if possible ..has anyone heard if hawkins plans to redshirt?
seems like the coaches would want to put another year between him and mateer if they can.
this is not currently the plan
3 YPC is servicable when playing a great defense. It can get the job done.I will stand by the statement that averaging 3 yards per carry as a group, when one of those games was against an FCS, is, in fact, poor production. I would guess that would be the worst output in modern OU history if it holds up over the season, and stats are facts. The other fact is that they more or less abandoned even trying to give them the ball for most of the game. The final drive is the one time they got back to it.

But yeah nowhere close to where it needs to be over the course of the season
If we can get above 4 I think that will be enoughit is close. we're a passing/qb run offense with a great defense.
sure it would be great to have it all...but an average rb run game is good enough.
i'm not too concerned. as the o-line gets better....and blaylock gets more experience...i think the rb ground game will be just fine.
the pass blocking is currently ahead of the run blocking but the starting oline combo didn't play in week 1 .. and they did "OK" blocking a very very good michigan front 7 ..it is close. we're a passing/qb run offense with a great defense.

I'm pretty optimistic as well.the pass blocking is currently ahead of the run blocking but the starting oline combo didn't play in week 1 .. and they did "OK" blocking a very very good michigan front 7 ..
i would bet that the run game progresses ..
I don't think so, unless he gets a lot better. He still has plenty to work on, and with his low release, I'm not sure he'll ever project as a high NFL draft pick.Mateer is gone after this year:
Hawkins or portal!
Bowl games don't count against the 4 games to redshirt.I think they will save him for conference imo and/or possibly bowl game
I did not remember that being the case. Hard to keep track of all of the changing rules. (I still haven't learned the nfl kickoff rules yet)Bowl games don't count against the 4 games to redshirt.
They are trying to redshirt him, but that gets tricky because you can't predict injuries. Unless OU just routes Temple, I think he might not play this week. I would hope Kent State is a game they can play him in though.
