Football question

It obviously wasn't the result we wanted, but if you were on board with BV in the morning, bailing at this point is nothing more than bedwetting. His tenure has had plenty of issues, but this year hasn't been one of them.

The fact that our defense gave up 16 points and people are still complaining speaks volumes as to how far it has come. There was a time we would have been stoked to only give up 16 points to Temple or UTEP.

The offense looked like their QB1 broke his hand three weeks ago and hardly took any reps all week. I've been as skeptical as anybody about Mateer's Heisman expectations, and have called our offense mediocre many times, but that was absolutely an abomination. He wasn't right. If that's what we get all year, sure, maybe we sound the alarms, but that isn't what we've seen at all this year. A mediocre offensive performance gets us a W today.

Coming into the season, most of us would have been quite happy with a 5-1 start. Auburn has UGA down at half, which makes 3 straight weeks of close top 10 matchups. UM is ranked #15 (though likely not for long). The offense needs work, but this team doesn't suck.

I really didn't like the decision at the end of the first half. Yeah, 9 points on fg's is bad. but our guy has been really good and someday he will miss but until that day, dance with him.

The plan should have been to run a play with 20-30 seconds. Or to call a TO with 2 seconds. Instead Mateer looked around like he hadn't taken any reps in weeks and then took a TO at the worst possible time. Then proceeded to throw an ill-advised pass.

lol here we go. Got our ass kicked in all three phases and the takeaway is that our QB has an ouchie on his thumb and we just needed a mediocre offensive game and we would have won.

Meanwhile Lincoln’s team is up to 226 yards on the ground against that vaunted Michigan defense.

Or, you know, not waste 20+ seconds after two previous plays on the drive, and not burn two turnouts earlier in the quarter because our bonehead coach still can’t manage the game.

Lincoln Riley’s offenses are impressive. It’s laughable that Arbuckle was compared to Riley.

You guys can go root for Lincoln Riley. He’s a great offensive coach but he isn’t a great head coach. You can wax poetic all day but he will never win a title. Get outta here with that bull****.

I don't know why people are talking about him as if they didn't watch him go 15-11 the past two seasons. Congrats to them on scoring a few more points against Michigan than we did. And for almost beating Illinois.

agree. Lincoln's #1 QB after Caleb after us that followed him to USC, Malachi Nelson got beat out at Boise and is now QB1 for a 1-5 UTEP team. and I have spent time in that area, UTEP sucks but I pull for them, sorta.

Riley's o is fun to watch, but he's not a program genius imo. and a lot of his player decisions don't turn out, as WE know

It’s a disingenuous argument to complain about our offense and pine about Riley as if he didn’t run our program into the ground with the worst defenses ever and joke special teams. Not to mention hes a hollow, empty human being. But go ahead and disrespect OU because you’re such great “fans”. Give me a break.

Reminder that Hawkins had a better passer rating than 5 of mateers starts

He’s Trevor knight reincarnated
The problem with Mateer was not necessarily his passing per se, it was his decision making. It's been a problem all season to some degree....taking unnecessary risks when the play isnt there. Although he is a gamer, he is too reckless with the ball too often. It was going to catch up with us at some point. That and the abomination that is the Oline. With these weaknesses, our margin for error against good teams (especially teams with good defenses) is damn near zero.

And yes I agree, we need upgrades at the skill positions. I dont see any NFL talent at the RB or WR positions.

Never said he will. But I’d rather win 10 or 11 games a year and lose in the playoff like Lincoln did than be a team that is under .500 in conference games under bonehead Brent.

Have you met Lincoln? Or Brent? Or do you just form an opinion because one of them gives a better quote to the media?

Sadly hes better than BV tho.. I hate watch usc almost every week hoping for him to lose (hes the biggest fraud in the game and i believe he will eventually be fired, but so will BV.....)

Who called him a genius? Lots of non-geniuses are still miles ahead of the overmatched guy coaching us now.

It's genuinely impressive that somebody clueless enough to think our defense got their ass kicked after giving up 16 points is capable of formulating an entire sentence.
Look at what tejas did on 3rd downs vs what they did on other Ds coming into the game..

Hes just not good man.. 6 tds to 6 ints now.. hes def below rattler. Bad reads and lacks accuracy like our past studs had..

The entire things needs to be torn down to the studs and rebuilt.

That was supposed to happen this year, but they kept all the bad position coaches around.
That means that BV needs to go bc hes the moron that kept JJF and Demarco murray..

You clearly hate BV and want another coach, even a 65 yr old guy that is in the B1G, who probably couldn’t recruit or win in the SEC. Then what? Fire him and hire the next flavor the moment?

You’re transparent in your hate for BV and are always negative about OU, in football or basketball. You’re just a negative, hateful person that enjoys OU losing.
You mean the 65 yr old that has only 7 4 stars on his team and then only below that, and just walked into Oregon and whipped them...? He might be the best coach in the entire country rn.

I honestly don’t know if that’s true. The administration did a lot this offseason. Spent big money on players and a new OC who was drawing interest from other schools. Hired a GM and staff to try to take a lot off Brent’s plate. Brent has everything he needs to succeed. He just doesn’t know what he is doing. Now, if they bring him back next season if/when this season derails (people were asking a week or two ago where we would lose more than three games, but the better question is where we will get more than a couple wins), then the AD and president will deserve all kinds of heat.
Nagy's big score was ott.... we need to scout/test for heart and toughness. Ott should never play another down. Give Tatum run again over ott
