The fact that he played after the incident shows it wasn’t serious. Venables doesn’t mess around. See Gundy. If it was serious, then he would have been off the team.

I’m just saying he was a reliable back. It would be nice to have another one of those in lieu of Tatum, Barnes and Ott being complete unreliable. I think it points to how mismanaged the RB room has been in the last few years.

There are a lot of other former ou rb's leading their teams too tho. Makes you wonder about Demarco. Also, his rotations are terrible and we haven't had a 1,000 yard back since Eric gray and Kennedy Brooks (his only good RBs too...).

If XRob can stay healthy and dmo (maybe more arbuckle) hasn't already pissed him off because of his lack of use, then we might finally see some life at the RB position again

RB will be interesting this weekend. Robinson and blaylock not practicing?? But not listed on injury report. I have a hard time seeing Ott play with all that’s happened but desperate times call for desperate measures. And Tatum? Who knows.

Never a dull moment.
 
They should try Hawk in the backfield. He isn’t an SEC quarterback, maybe he could help us at a position that fits his skill set. I’m only partially kidding.
 
Running the football is one of the easiest possible things for a true freshman to step in and do without any reps. We've seen it many times over the years. If needed, I wouldn't completely shocked if a guy with virtually no reps this year like Tatum or Sawchuk had a solid day on the ground (if there's anywhere to run). My bigger fear is things like pass pro. Whiffing on a blitz or two could be the difference in the game for Mateer.
 
Shortest injury report since the start of SEC. I guess the running backs are good to go.

Don’t know what to think about that. Sure doesn’t sound like they are healthy listening to the media, although I get the sense none of them are truly injured. I think it’s more just being worn down with the type of stuff most backs are dealing with after 10 games. I’m sure Hardy got Mizzou doesn’t feel great with his workload, but he not only plays, he dominates.

the SEC reports are only about if they are going to play .. not really about health ..

neither is "healthy"

and as far as Hardy "dominating" sure against bad run defenses

Hardy vs the best 2 defenses he has played

12 -52 vs bama
24 of 58 vs auburn ..

He has had two games all season where he has averaged under 4.5 YPC, and only one game under 4.3. In his last two games, one of which was against an undefeated, top 3 team, he is averaging nearly 11 YPC. He is carrying the ball 20 times per game. I think my points that he (a) has a heavy workload, and (b) has been dominant are correct beyond any doubt. Hell, even those Bama numbers dwarf what any of our guys could do.

Point being, I'm sure he isn't feeling fresh as a daisy and is "banged up," just like our guys are. It comes with the position. If you can only play well as a running back when you are feeling great, you're never going to amount to anything. I hear "banged up" and similar phrases constantly in reference to our players.

He has played 3 games against top 25 run defenses and in each of them, he's been held to under 5 YPC and under 100 total yards. He's bullied run defenses like Miss St that aren't top 50 in the country thus far, and certainly is a guy to watch out for, but stats do not support much worry. The SEC has 4 top 10 run defenses in the country, and he went 24 for 58 against the only one he has faced thus far.

We can absolutely lose this game, but they'll likely either need to force costly turnovers or beat us through the air in a way that they haven't been doing thus far.

Again, it truly is amazing that you manage to miss the point of almost every post.

Also, even though my post had nothing to do with whether we should be worried about Hardy, it's amusing that you refer to stats and then use the phrase "flawed" post. Stats are objective facts. Every stat I cited in my post is accurate. You can downplay them all you want, but if we had a guy putting up his numbers at RB, people would throw a parade. Hell, people were gushing about Blaylock when he got off to a decent start against bad competition, talking about how he has "it" and looked like a guy we could rely on for years. If we had a back run for 300 yards against an SEC opponent, regardless of where that team's rush defense ranked, something tells me you wouldn't downplay it.

Apparently, blaylock needs shoulder surgery but is going to play through it until the end of the season. Robinson took some nasty hits around the knees but he’s just banged up and should play. Not certain how banged up he is or how well he can play through it. I don’t know if Tatum will see the field or what’s going on with him. Ott? Who knows. We might end up playing sawchuk’s little brother. Good times.
