Gabe just proved how worthless he is by not only failing to ask Arbuckle a single meaningful question, but by implying that our offense has found an identity by playing to our defense. This, after a game where the OC was snapping the ball with 15 seconds left and throwing the ball as often as he was running it for the majority of the fourth quarter.I'd love to play complementary football, but that appears to be a pipe dream. Lots of stuff on film this week that would warrant Arbuckle an asschewing. The outright refusal to milk the play clock is maddening. At least two free minutes given to the Tigers.....possibly more.
But, man, what a performance by the defense. Those dudes deserve game balls galore. Guys were there, even on the throws down the field that Mizzou connected. Once we started shooting gaps with the linebackers the piss was OUT of their running game.
One down, one to go. Boomer Sooner !!

BV promise Arbuckle that he has complete call on offense. I am sure all of those passing plays at the end are not BV call. Last year issue has to do a lot with Jackson Arnold which now costed Huge Freeze his job. I am sure if Ben is calling play for JA we would be dead last in SEC. I am calling for Kevin Wilson to be our co-offensive coordinator. He was our offensive coordinator for a few years. He did a pretty dang good job.All fair points. If BV can’t learn and grow past those mistakes, he will not be the head coach much longer. I believe he can. Game management has been an issue but he’s shown himself to be very amendable to change and fix problems on the staff and on the team. I think the roster is much better and we will have a chance to compete against anyone.
If Brent could hire the right people on offense, we’d be competing for national titles. The offense is such a liability and it will be our undoing eventually. I’m on record saying I hate the Arbuckle offense. Neither mateer nor Arbuckle are worthy of the job at OU. We need to make a change, again, in the offseason. I don’t think we will, but we should.
Following the first season, he's had 6 chances to improve a unit (3 offense, 3 defense), and he's succeeded in 5 of 6 opportunities. Unfortunately the offense was a complete trainwreck last year. Some on here say we'll never be good on offense under Venables, which doesn't compute given that we were top 5 in scoring offense in Lebby's final season.
I've said it since day 1, I'm not convinced Arbuckle or Mateer are stars, but I also think we could be a top 25 offense next year with a few key additions. Something as simple as a TE that can block and catch slightly above average would go a long way. He's working with three freshmen OL and is used to having 2-3 TEs that can do what none of our current room can.
I think Mateer has been a bigger issue than Arbuckle this year, but all last year we said "if we just had a mediocre QB that could take care of the ball." Well we've got it, and it's resulted in as many added wins as we'd hoped. Some on here keep trying to say he's careless with the ball despite just one turnover in the last 5 games. That's not something to be taken for granted. QBR certainly doesn't take that for granted, which is why his QBR will once again be higher than his opponents'.
I don’t think we’ll ever win a title with this offense. Arbuckle still has a lot to learn and he defaults to bad play calls way too often. We obviously need to invest more on the offensive side but his offense isn’t going to get it done at the highest level. We should’ve hired the Georgia tech OC when we had the chance.Following the first season, he's had 6 chances to improve a unit (3 offense, 3 defense), and he's succeeded in 5 of 6 opportunities. We just beat tenn who has the 2nd ranked scoring offense. Ahead of USC and Oregon.Watching Oregon vs USC game, even as good an offense as USC everybody say Oregon win because they are balance vs USC run game is ineffective. If we play again Oregon right now, they probably will blow us out of the water. Don't think our defense can hold down Oregon offense nor USC offense for long stretch like today. Don't think our offense can put up point to beat either these 2 teams.
dec 19-20thIf/when OU wins next Saturday, how long of a break is it before the first playoff game?
