Football question

Is their defense so good they can force us to snap the ball with 15 seconds on the clock? Is that a thing?
Teams want rhythm and flow. Waiting in a huddle or at the line for an extra 15 seconds doesn’t create that.

You want better offense but also want us to stall.

Sure there is a balance but they aren’t worried about that in quarter 1-2-3 for the most part. Sure at times they are.

I didn’t post about it in the first three quarters. You can defend it all you want but a 17-6 lead in the fourth quarter, when your defense is dominating and your offense hasn’t scored since the first half, isn’t the time to focus on “flow.” And who said it requires standing at the line of scrimmage forever? Stay in the huddle. Watch any NFL game of the season and you’ll see teams play great offense, and they very rarely snap the ball till the last several seconds. To act like snapping the ball late in the clock makes it impossible to develop a rhythm is just not accurate.

just finished watching gabe/teddy on the breakdown...
they could not name one thing this offense does well.
they could not name one thing this offense has gotten better at throughout the season.
maybe they just don't realize mizzou has the 2nd best defense in the conference:rolleyes:

gabe also said sategna needs more touches. i guess he isn't aware he's #1 in the sec in touches among receivers.
7 punt returns tend to pad those stats a bit.

He's on pace for more catches than Ceedee Lamb ever had in a season, more catches than his previous three years COMBINED, and more touches than Ryan Williams.

I'm all ears if you want to bring some objective data, but you haven't shown any ability to do so, so I'm getting bored. Improve your argument if you want to be taken seriously. Eye rolls and poorly executed snark won't do that.

That is pretty wild...it sure doesn't feel like it.
Maybe it is just the lack of touchdowns and big plays

it is almost like some of yall had no Idea the Mizzou has the 2nd best defense in the SEC
Based on what metric? ESPN's defensive FPI efficiency (which adjusts for opponent) has Mizzou as the 8th best defense in the league. They're 7th in defensive EPA in the conference as well. They may look good based on box score stats, but the advanced metrics say they're middle of the pack.

sp+ has them 4th in the SEC behind OU and bama and LSU

There are plays to be had, Mateer has to be better or he could cost this team a national championship. That's how good the defense and special teams is, and they're peaking at the right time too. If much doesn't change, they have to bring in a portal QB to compete against him, because the defense is only going to be better next year.

great post.
gabe's theory is the offense is just too complicated for mateer.
he thinks they need to just dumb it down and play old fashioned smash mouth football.
forget all the complicated reads because mateer is making the wrong decision the vast majority of the time.

also...i think it was wichita who asked what's wrong with burks.
gabe says even the wide receivers are making reads/decisions instead of just running routes.
he says burks is fast...he should just run....but instead he's constantly looking back.

What a weird thing to say... He ran it last year to damn near perfection...

They're top 15-25 defense in the country based on advanced metrics. Which based on our schedule, I agree, puts them middle of the pack. Wild that they could be ranked as high as 15 and still be 6th best defense on our schedule.

I'd say that's just life in the SEC now, and to some extent it will be, but that's not the case for teams like A&M. With 16 team leagues, there are some wild variations in scheduling. We got it as rough as anybody.

well....another option is he's making the wrong decision on purpose...trying to lose the game.
what's your theory?

I mean If i had the answers id call down and tell them.

He wasnt this "happy feet", not trusting his Oline, early in the year. He said it and I think there are some truths of him "seeing ghosts". comparing it to the yippes in golf.

I dont know why but he still a gamer and think he'll be fine long term (as in yes I want him back next year).
