Football question

Jordan was a weird omission all year IMO for a team with weak sauce WRs..
It made no sense. We basically didn’t have a third WR after Hawkins nearly decapitated Lewis. Gibson was a nonfactor all season. Jordan managed to make an impact last year on the worst offense ever created, but didn’t even get a sniff this year.

Man, didn't end the way we wanted, but it was a fun season, IMO. Oklahoma can play defense again!! The offense must get better, but I certainly would have taken 10-3 and a home playoff game if you asked me in July. Hopefully we keep improving and go further next year.....

Mateer missed Gibson on a layup for a touchdown. He led guys too far on several throws and that cost us lots of yardage after the catch. He did his usual BS and threw sidearm while jumping with no one around him. And once he threw the pick, he totally lost his way for over a quarter. Since you’re convinced he looked healthy tonight, how do you explain those things?

If you couldn't tell the difference between the guy that threw for 138 yards a little over a month ago vs 307 tonight, then that really says it all. Not surprising for somebody that repeatedly said our defense wasn't elite and predicted a 6 win season.

Disappointing end. We gave the game away with unforced errors. 10 points just given away with no credit to the defense. Just sickening.

Where did I say he didn’t look better tonight? That’s a low bar. He still isn’t good enough. He is not a championship caliber quarterback. The team won this year in spite of him, not because of him.

He actually threw for 357 when you add in the TD pass where he hit the Bama defender in stride.

Mateer = Different.. yet threw a decisive pick 6?

When interceptions look that bad, it's often on the WR. I'm told that Lewis ran the wrong route and should have been where the ball was thrown.

I don't know that for a fact, and I'm not going to die on that hill, but he was moving the ball all game against a defense that nobody else does that to. Without any semblance of a run game.

He's not a generational talent, and nobody ever felt he was, but he played well enough to win tonight. We've won with much worse performances.

I mean, he did look better but still missed throws and had his usual near-picks too.. hes just not anywhere near worth even 33% of his contract $$.

No.. we were sold that he was a baker mayfield type gunslinger that would be a Heisman quality guy.. instead, we got a 12 TD and 10 INT sort of guy.

The run game partly sucks bc of mateer. Mateer gets more rushes than the RBs that are stronger, faster, and are specifically designed for and experienced in running the ball. 19 carries vs 11 and 3.

I'm glad we have all finally come to the common sense conclusion that breaking your throwing hand thumb isn't good for performance and takes some time to fully heal.
And at his best, before the injury and tonight, his accuracy is subpar and he makes multiple horrific decisions every game.

It's really amazing that some of you check every tipped ball as an interception equivalent for Mateer. That's life in the SEC, especially with no running game and a bunch of freshmen playing OL. Not every throw is going to be perfect. He was incredibly dangerous out of the pocket today, including the dime that X dropped on 3rd down and the 4th down conversion.

We could do better. But we could absolutely do worse.

No.. we were sold that he was a baker mayfield

I have no idea how you ever believed that. There isn't a single Baker Mayfield in college football today. And even Baker was throwing to Ceedee, Hollywood, and Andrews against inferior defenses.

QB runs get you an extra blocker. Sacks are included as runs in college football and a lot of his designed are short yardage situations. His QB run game is largely why our red zone offense was so good. The problem was getting to the red zone.
