Football question

now we have a source off .. one attorney says there was a TRO granted

and his attorney says there wasn't .. very strange ..

i mean he is not a slave .. right ? he is a student .. some courts don't force anyone to work for someone they don't want to .

The Washington QB couldn't transfer because the Big 10 had lawyers backing them on that deal. At some point players and these conferences most likely will have to do some form of collective bargaining. But when that does happen we will probably see less transfers going into the portal and better stability for rosters. Probably gonna be like a decade away at this point from happening though.

Tro

that wasn't why .. they decided the juice wasn't worth the squeeze .. money wise the would have had to pretty much play for free at LSU

Tatum moving to safety at Michigan.
I'm trying to remember if I've ever heard of a 5-star running back in high school convert to another position in college. I have heard of this for other positions, but not sure about RB, though I'm sure this isn't a first. Best of luck to the young man, except when he plays against us.

USC wanted Demarco as a CB .. but of course he didn't do that ..

and FSU signed a 5 star corner Leon Washington a long time ago and he only played RB (and then played RB in the NFL) ..

top 100 player in the country across all services .... as high as the #35 player ..

I don't believe ESPN reporting can be true because that #5 that is cutoff i believe would include entering the portal

AND that wouldn't be the last peacable position of the parties.. that would be Mensah being a QB for Duke under his K that mensah of his own free will signed
and he is in fact in the portal

My guess is the judge split the baby and said can enter the portal and solicit offers but cannot pick one or enroll until Feb 2 hearing. That isn't how a TRO is supposed to work but it happens often
makes me wonder how he got to the "can't enroll" part ..

I guess i could see they can't play football or get NIL ... but how can a court not let someone go to school where they want??

As for actual culture, what we saw from Indiana is what we should strive for. In three playoff games, no turnovers, and 11 total penalties for 71 yards. In addition to that, they are tough as hell on both sides of the ball. Their skill guys all played damn near every game, and the physicality and attention to detail on the offensive line is so impressive.

This.

I've actually talked to staff members about it, over the 4 year sample size the teams make major mistakes that lose games.

Fully agree. Would love to hear what they said, if you don't mind sharing.

I sometimes hear people argue that it isn't a coach's fault if players commit dumb mistakes or turn the ball over, because "they obviously don't teach them to do that." But I also think it is pretty clear in all sports that some coaches place much more emphasis on attention to detail and discipline. It's not an accident that certain basketball teams are always great at taking care of the ball and blocking out, for instance. "You achieve what you emphasize" is one of Kelvin's favorite sayings. It's obvious that Cignetti is obsessed with playing clean football and not beating themselves. That false start on their final drive was shocking because it is so rare for them to do that.

Imo bc its let's both parties "win". He can go ahead and openly talk with suitors, but its not a done deal making duke lose.

Bc its just until feb 2 hearing (and any time needed to make a decision on the TI/PI).

Idk how courts can take away like criminal defendants' rights to use the internet and stuff. House arrest. Preventing school enrollment seems pretty small to me.. and again, don't forget and discount the HUGE fact that he signed away certain rights of his....

Glad it's other schools doing this and not us. Sounds like a PR nightmare. Can't imagine this helps Duke's portal prospects.
I don't think it will at all. They paid him his money. Oh noessss their not letting athletes unilaterally out of signed contracts and walking all over them? Don't break the K then. Or sign for only 1 year

I don't think they're in the wrong. But 19 year old kids will absolutely have this in the back of their mind. If they don't, their competitors will definitely plant that seed with negative recruiting.
