Meh, its not that big of a loss. 5 points a game and 30% from 3. We can replace that. Good luck to him wherever he goes.

Re: Booker Transfering

Looking at rivals Booker was an unranked 3 star, James is a 3 star ranked #139, Odomes is an unranked 3 star. The differences are negligible. Of course any player recruited by a major D1 program was a stud in high school but if you want to be a legit top 20 team they have to be super studs because that's whose playing for the other legit top 20 teams.

According to Rivals

Odomes had offers from OU, Baylor, Okie State, A&M, and Marquette

James had offers from OU, Maryland, Okie State, Oregon, and LSU

Booker had offers from OU, Tennessee, A&M, Lasalle, and Austin Peay

Are we in on that many 2016 kids? We lose Hield, Cousins, Spangler, and Walker and only have 2 commits so far. That would leave 2 from that group, plus Franks still open.

To those that say he wouldn't improve and had reached his ceiling as a player – well, I say you're wrong. Frank was deadly from 3-point range in high school and he showed flashes of that skill set while at OU. I believe he could have been a big contributor had he stayed and continued to work hard. We've had less talented/skilled players than Frank Booker who have contributed mightily and will forever be held in high esteem by Sooner fans.

I'm with you.

For that matter, I hate to see fans write any player off midway through his career (or even earlier).

I definitely think OU will be in the "graduate transfer" market after next season.

He had troublesome injuries for much of the season. He showed much more what could be to us later in the season. He averaged 6.5 per over the final 11 games of the season, and if he came back fully healthy, there's no telling what he might have done next season.

Had Stacy King left after his sophomore season, many would have said, "Meh. Seven points a game; we can replace that."

I'm not saying Frank is at Stacy's level, but you never know how he might have developed, especially if (heaven forbid) Buddy left and he got more minutes.

Yes several of the bigs mentioned here a lot... Brunk and Heard

Guards- Kj Santos (id love) Ponds, Mitchell

I liked him. I thought he was on the verge of being a good defender and a sharpshooter which is great to have.

I liked Frank a lot also and every team at this level almost needs to have the requisite 3 pt gunner but I don't know if I ever saw him turning into that knock out 3 pt guy that we needed. He has a nice stroke but he wasn't a pure shooter in my eyes.

I think some of you read too much into this working out as guard or forward thing for these guys that have a skill set that could be a 3 or 4 when they redshirt. In my opinion an intelligent coach would have them run drills with the group they perceive will work on their weaknesses the most.

I don't agree with you all that often, but IMO, you are 100% correct on this.

Hate to hear this because I like Frank. But let's be honest, he's a one show pony. He's a D1 shooter off the bench. Good luck at Georgia State.

I didn't see a cade Davis in him. I see a guy whose minutes were going to take a hit. Even when he was making shots, they were no no no yes shots. Hopefully Krueger can take advantage of a sweet 16 run and start landing multiple top 100 recruits.

Transfer and/or maybe offer Tyson Jolly?

Dante Buford, Rashard Odomes, and Christian James are all potentially wing players that are higher rated than Jolly coming out of HS. Those same guys would likely be taking some minutes away from Booker.

I would rather they use the scholarship on a juco PG….. someone who could help immediately.

Re: Booker Transfering

Is this a bad April fools joke? Is this because of the racist frat issues?

wouldn't surprise me if it at least had something to do with it. I didn't like his attitude in dealing with the SAE stuff or some of his demeanor. HE is a guy that is easily replacable.

Re: Booker Transfering

If both James and Odomes are ready to contribute, we may not need to take another guard this year. Assuming Buddy stays, of course. Woodard, Cousins, Buddy, Walker, Odomes, James, and Buford should be adequate.
