Frank Booker Transferring

I don't think the point was that Kruger recruited them. I think the point is the three highest rated players that have played for Kruger at OU have been the best three players.

You can't not look at the final 4 this year and see why those great coaches and their teams are there and our great coach and our team is not there. Anyone thinks not bringing in top 100 players don't make a difference needs to stop and smell the roses bc the proof is right in front of you. Each team has a 5 star recruit on their roster. I believe of the remaining elite 8 teams all but 1 has a 5 star recruit on their roster. And Notre dame has a bunch of 4 star recruits though. You can go to the previous years and see the same trend.
I am on board with Krueger, bc he has the coaching skills to get us to a final 4 but he is not bringing in the talent to get us there.

guys, you gotta crawl before you can walk. There isn't a Blake Griffin playing 30 miles from campus that is willing to just walk in and be the man.

He built the foundation on solid players and a few 4 stars. They are becoming reputable again. Now players like Payton Pritchard have signed up to join in, if you haven't looked lately, he is a top 30 player in the country. Those are the types of guys that get you to final 4's.

We are also in on several 4 star bigs in that class that we are still persuing. I know Pritchard is a legacy, but I'm going to go on a ledge and say if Capel was still here and we went 14-18 again, he would have looked elsewhere cause he can go anywhere.

You have to build up the program when you don't have the rabid fanbase or arena or well known history to these kids to quickly bounce back (like when Kentucky was down). We are building every year, and the good players are taking notice.

Wants to start. Simple as that. The fact that he doesn't feel like he will have that chance says he thinks buddy's coming back or the young guys are really good. I bet james or odomes shoots it better than frank next year.

He had troublesome injuries for much of the season. He showed much more what could be to us later in the season. He averaged 6.5 per over the final 11 games of the season, and if he came back fully healthy, there's no telling what he might have done next season.

Had Stacy King left after his sophomore season, many would have said, "Meh. Seven points a game; we can replace that."

I'm not saying Frank is at Stacy's level, but you never know how he might have developed, especially if (heaven forbid) Buddy left and he got more minutes.

He was hurt and it affected him, but hes a role player. Im confident we can find someone to pick up his production. Its not a big loss.

I know of a division 1 wing who this year as a freshman who shot 41% from the 3. Played 14 minutes a game. He is athletic or more than Frank and at least as tall. He is transferring and has several schools interested in him. He is a local product. OU would be his first choice maybe even as a walkon. He wants to play though so he may not choose us and/or we may not even have a spot for him. His league obviously wasn't the Big 12 but he had double figures against one of our top teams.
It just shows that backup wing players are replaceable.

This.

People associate talent too much with the name on the jersey or conference. There are some elite level guards in the D-II ranks who can do what Booker did. That's not a knock on Booker, there is just a lot more talent than their used to be. Often it's a right place/right time for a recruit when going through HS or JUCO.

Why the secretive nature? Why not just say the name of this player and where he went to school.

Did you guys watch Frank or anybody else who wasn't a starter play on the wing for us? None of them were OU level talent. It is why Frank is gone.

Also read my post it doesn't say this player would replace Frank. It states clearly it would probably be as a walk-on and even then OU may not have room. However he is as good or better than Frank. And of course transfers can't play next year.

His name is out in the coaching world with D1 offers and just about every D2 school.

My main point is wing players are everywhere and at Franks level they are easily replaced.

This is a silly statement. Frank Booker did more than Bennett, Walker, Ray Willis, Neysmith, Cole, Blair, Washington, Abdul, Hardrick, Tompson, Allen, Kyle, Leary, Maze, Chris Walker, etc.

Yes and that is the point with Buford. Even though many think that he is not an out of the box what a wing is suppose to look like, he is OU level talent and would be a better wing than Booker or Walker.
