GAME 23 - OKLAHOMA (16-6) vs #4 TENNESSEE (19-5) 11:00am CST on ESPN

Please remember their OOC was a lot more difficult than ours.
I acknowledged that they had some great wins OOC and mentioned it in my post, and fully realize that their overall non-con schedule was more difficult, but I feel we’ve played better conf competition than they have. They have not had a good year at all for the amount of talent and $ they spent on that roster. That’s not even debatable. Just give this OU team a center like Hunter D., and see what that would do for us. He’d be worth at least 2 maybe 3 more wins. At that point, we’d be 19-4, or at least 18-5. That position has killed us this year.

We have a one-and-done potential lottery pick at the most important position in college basketball. KU has a PG who I think is very solid, but a large portion of their own fans hate because he doesn't score or have much upside. Given Moser's failure to maximize wins or get the most out of his players, I don't think Dickinson nets us 3 more wins. He also is really bad defensively -- which certainly doesn't help us in a big area of need.

I really don’t care what you think. If we had an all-American type center, I def think he’d add 2-3 wins to this team. It’s by FAR the weakest position on this team ffs. To argue otherwise is stupid. Our PG is barely 18 and is supposed to be in HS…PM has done a pretty decent job with him, but I never expect you to acknowledge that.

I hear ya man and I agree a HD type would get us another win or two.

My problem is PM. This is godwins 3rd year second as a starter. Luke’s 3rd year second as his backup. As we have all seen those two are killing us in conference play. Sam can’t make a dang layup and I play better defense than Luke. I watch game after game and am embarrassed as to what we have to offer at that position. And preseason PM gushes about the athleticism of Sam. Sheesh give me a break. This is NOT a nil issue. It is a bad coach with horrible roster management. IMO

Seeing as how all the people who try to defend Moser to any degree are the ones who are never proven right, I’d say it’s your opinion that doesn’t carry much weight, not mine.

The level of play at C is unacceptable. I’m fine if Sam or Luke were the 3rd C in the rotation, but they can’t play as much as they are and we be able to compete in this league. That’s the part that stinks, he finally gets a decent HS center commit, and he may never even play here if PM is gone. Just gotta hope the next guy can bring in some legit posts.

So you can say with a straight face that we wouldn’t be better with an all American center?? 😂😂😂😂

PM must have banged your wife and made you watch.

KU had the 29th best noncon SOS in the country. We had the 324th best.
We had as many quad 1 non con wins as them. I get they played some better teams lower team wins. They are getting credit for playing duke and road non con.

Are problem right now is not our ooc schedule. Or issue is not holding on and beating a&m and Texas at home. Would clearly in a position for march madness if we pulled those. But we didn’t.

Is it that hard to see that our problem is both?

As a season ticket holder, I didn’t like the schedule. I have 2 comments.

1. If we were not 13-0, say 11-2 we are not in march madness discussion at all. We would still be the same team without a center and struggle in the sec.

2. I think they were trying to create atmosphere and sell season tickets by playing as many home games as possible. Not playing road or neutral limits teams that will come to OU. Per Toby, they tried to get 2 for 1 series with better teams and were turned down.

The first point is false if we play a significantly better noncon. There were all kinds of teams with multiple losses in the noncon who were already ahead of us in NET and KenPom when we were 13-0.

As for the second point, if Moser thinks playing 7 heinous teams plus Georgia Tech is going to create atmosphere and draw fans to the LNC, he is clueless when it comes to OU fans. As for wanting 2-for-1 series, we aren’t a good enough program under Moser to demand that. And going on the road in the noncon for a game or two isn’t the worst thing.

If we had 9 losses right now, with a better ooc, you think we are still have chance for march madness? I don’t think we would based on future schedule.

the season tickets don’t change much in cost per amount of home games. So having a few extra games is a draw for local buyers like me. I have upper deck tickets, when they sell the cheap 5 dollars for some games, I am paying more for same seats. Now games like Texas I’m usually better off.
- yea I would rather better teams rather more away games but when north Texas is turning you down, per Toby, I don’t know what you do.

I think 15+ years ago, we probably would be sunk in the scenario you mention because the committee looked more at your record and less at context, which is what advanced metrics provide. Ohio State has 10 losses and it almost in the top 25 of the NET. Texas has 9 losses and is well ahead of us. Arky has 9 and had crept past us. So I do think there is a chance, for sure. And this is not a sure thing, I’ll admit, but maybe if we play a better noncon, we don’t choke away the first A&M game or lay an egg against Texas. The more battle tested you are, the better prepared you’ll be for conference.
