Game 10 - OKC AT PAYCOM #13 OKLAHOMA (9-0) vs. OKLAHOMA STATE (6-2) 7pm CST on ESPNU

Suck it aggies! I wasn't able to see much of the game but I tuned in late when it was already an ass kicking. Very nice to see from the fellas.

I was unable to watch the game. Look at Godwin! Much needed.
Did we play great? Does O-State just stink? Boy.....you hate to see it! :)
We played well. Sam was great, Elvis was good. Outcome never in doubt for the final 25+ minutes. Pokes definitely didn’t look good, but we have struggled with worse versions of them in recent years.

Big boy game coming up Wednesday. Interested to see how we look.

A very enjoyable win, though I really wanted a 20+ point margin (so did Porter--the first thing he said during the radio interview afterward was how frustrated he was with those last few minutes when we let oswho hit some shots). We took control early and they never climbed back into it. As I said, the officiating was utterly inept and for a while free throws kept oswho within semi-striking distance, but we just kept pushing and in the end the officials didn't really have an impact.

I was surprised to see some expressing concern going into this game. I wasn't at all worried, and oswho is the team I most hate to lose to. I somehow was confident we'd win tonight (though we all know anything can happen in Bedlam hoops) and was really pleased that we dominated.

It was great to see Sam rolling--he was without question the player of the game. But just about everyone contributed. Double figures in points for all of the starters. Forsythe had one great pass in the paint, and I loved that play in the second half where Miles missed a close-in shot near the rim and before he even began his descent, he had the rebound and put the ball back up and in.

It may be a tossup between which group of folks were heartbroken at the butt-kicking delivered by OU earlier tonight: the Poke fan base or the major media types who were no doubt secretly pulling for them in order to advance the old "OSU is a better basketball school" narrative.

Let’s see how things go Wednesday. First game against a tournament team all season, just like last season against UNC.
Yep. If this game goes like UNC and we are never really in it my hope will definitely wane. The big 2 questions will start to play out:
1. How big of a liability is our inside?
2. How much of a difference maker is Fears and is it enough to overcome 1?

That’s quite a lot for one neutral site game in December. Might be an overstatement. If we win, it will mean little if we finish in the bottom of the conference. If we lose, it will mean nothing if we finish .500 or above in conference play.

Claiming to know which of our opponents are tourney teams is silly at this point.

Some now pointing to Michigan as the game that will clarify how good we are will discount that win if we beat them and say we haven't proven anything until conference play.

We're one of three undefeated teams remaining. Michigan's a tough match-up for us, so if we lose to them, it won't necessarily mean much because we might well go the rest of the season without facing a team with two seven-footers as talented as theirs.

It’s not silly. It’s actually petty easy. You can eliminate 9 of the 13 teams immediately. The three teams in Atlantis plus Michigan are the only teams that even have a chance. Providence has finished their noncon, is barely over .500, and is nowhere near the field as of now. The Big East is down this year, so their chances for high quality wins are limited. Louisville is 6-5 and also plays in a league that won’t get many bids, so they have minimal chances to improve their resume. Plus, they have multiple guys out for the year. They will be accomplishing quite a bit if they even manage to finish the year .500. Arizona is under .500 and will enter conference play with zero meaningful wins and a handful of blowout losses. They’ll have tons of Q-1 games in the Big 12, but they’ll have to win a bunch of them to have a chance.

it’s ridiculous for some on this board to act as if trying to assess the strength of a schedule and the quality of a team’s wins is like trying to solve the world’s toughest riddle. There are so many publicly available websites that tell you all you need to know.

So, yes, barring a massive rebound by Arizona, Wednesday is our only chance to beat a tournament team outside conference play. A win Wednesday is one fewer game we have to win in January and February. A loss puts us in the same spot we were in last year. You can say it won’t be that predictive because Michigan is a unique team with two really good bigs, but the computers won’t count that game any more or less based on Michigan’s size.

We are going to be playing 18 games in a conference that is a beast. If we lose Wednesday but end up winning 9 or 10 regular season conference games, we will be in, likely with ease. I’d prefer not to have to count on doing something that we haven’t come close to doing under Moser. When you put together a really bad nonconference schedule, it makes it that much more important that you don’t miss the one chance you have to land a big scalp.

That’s what I’m looking for. The outcome of the UNC game was basically never in doubt and it looked obvious that we were not used to that level of competition. This Michigan team isn’t likely to be as good as UNC was last year, but it’s still a big step up from what we have faced.

Ah yes, the massive mainstream media conspiracy against OU basketball. I guess that’s what Blake, Buddy, and TY never got any attention and two of those three didn’t win all the major POY awards.

Zona will obviously have plenty of chances for quality wins, but have shown no reason to think they’ll be able to win enough. If we lose Wednesday, it will be eery how similar our noncon will end up being to last season.
I agree with this. It’s wild. I can’t remember the last time Arizona was bad at basketball. Hopefully they turn the season around, because it would be nice to have one forsure victory over a tournament team come March.

OU is still in a good spot. Ten conference wins and they’re a lock.

Why? We have guys that can score 2 points per game.
Because when given the option between OU and OSU, one ALWAYS should choose OU.

He would have been a good addition to the team. He’s had a good career
