GAME 2 - OKLAHOMA (1-0) @ #21 GONZAGA (1-0) (Spokane) 9:30pm CST on ESPN2

I think he means April, as in the first weekend and Monday night in April, in Indianapolis.
Oh I know what he meant. It just is so far from feasible to be talking about this team playing in April, and acting like our concern is "peaking" at the right time. No one is expecting us to be in midseason form right now. But what we have seen so far isn't an issue of a team not peaking yet. It is flat-out bad basketball.

Agree for the most part. I wouldn't say everything is flat-out bad basketball. In the second half of each game, I think the team has played pretty well. In each game, the movement and passing were better in the second half, defense was tighter, and we got out in transition more. That is how the team needs to be playing.

I agree, though, the first half of each game has been ugly. Twice against bad teams. Even my wife commented on it last night. The Gonzaga game showed what happens when they play that way against a good team. And while the SEC may be down compared to last year, we will have similar outcomes if we don't find a way to fix it by January.

Nice to know they can turn it on. Too early to know if it's their identity. But to your point, if they don't get it corrected, March basketball will be very disappointing.

We have practically an entirely new team. They'll need some time to gel. Monzer said as much during the game last night.

And a far better and more objective analyst laughed at that very notion Saturday by noting that every team has a new roster every year these days. But keep trotting out the excuses. I also wonder … how exactly does getting your butt whipped on the boards have anything to do with gelling?

And the announcer in Kentucky loss said they needed time to gel. I agree with you effort is not a gel issue, and that is what I was the most bothered by in that loss.

I just will never buy the time to gel excuse in this era. And here is the thing: when has a Moser team ever shown the ability to gel as the season progresses? It’s the opposite: we get off to good starts, then crap the bed in conference. We started 13-0 last year with a new roster, then “gelled” to the tune of 6-12. Teams also have more time than ever to practice in the summer, and they now get to play exhibitions against legit competition. And Moser himself has pointed out that this year, they actually returned four guys (he said five, including the fictional Jones) who spent last season in the program, which helps the team come together faster.

I think it’s not necessarily gelling but determine on court hierarchy. Some players are just gamers and practices don’t always provide the clarity.

I think Reid and Davis are the two that need to figure it out. I think they are both expected to do more this year than their previous schools. I think Pack, and Brown play really well together.

OU and Villanova were both veteran teams when they met in December. It's a shame national championships weren't won in December that year.

Gonzaga is also likely a top 10 team. Im not worried about what this team does in November.
Are you banking on 6-12 or 7-11 to get us in the field if we crap the bed in November? When you annually suck in your conference, you better be damn close to perfect in your 6 games against actual opponents in Nov and Dec.

We haven't won more than 9 conference games since our last Final Four appearance...that's NINE years in a row of 5-9 wins and 8-13 losses. I'm not expecting a miracle this year, but would be disappointed with less than 8-9 conference wins. That should get us in the Dance if we win our toss-up non-conference games. Again, no one is happy with how non-competitive we were against Gonzaga...but enough of the negativity...PLEASE!

I'm just happy to see that somebody else is fed up with our league malaise. I felt like I was the only who gave a flip about continually finishing in the bottom half of the conference standings.

No idea why you feel like no one else cares about that when a bunch of us post about it all the time.

I will continue to feel free to post my thought, notwithstanding you asking me not to be “negative” after a miserable start to this much hyped season. But tell me … if we were 3-0 right now and had blown out Gonzaga, would you be fed up with positive posts? If not, maybe you should recognize the double standard. Posts on the board are going to reflect the play of the team.

That's fine...but I'm not sure you understand the concept of "beating a dead horse". Most of us say what we have to say and MOVE ON.

In the post that you complained about, I didn’t say anything about the Gonzaga game. Someone said it doesn’t matter what we do in November and I pointed out that that’s a pretty silly comment considering the fact we never do well in conference play.
