GAME 2 - OKLAHOMA (1-0) vs #21 GONZAGA (1-0) (Spokane) 9:30pm CST on ESPN2

Your aunt probably does have balls. My point was we aren’t going to shoot 23% from 3 every game. Did you even watch the whole thing?? Several misses were wide open. I’ve said all along I felt we were one big man shy on this team. I know we weren’t going to land a top post out of the portal, but if we just had another Wague type…it would be huge. The 2nd half was much better, and Wague made an impact at times when he was on the court.
If you thought that, why didn't pm? I've posted 2 years in a row polls of how many big we should sign and every year I'm on the "over" side of the avg. vote. Yet every year, here we are.

Every team can claim they should/could have shot the 3 better....

The play that made me the maddest last night was late -- we were making a push to get to 10 points. I think we cut it to 13, got a stop, but Davis just watched the ball come off the rim while Huff went and got the rebound. He made the putback, they're up 15, and we never got momentum again. Just a microcosm of how we got down 15. We were more athletic in the frontcourt -- just not the same level of desire, discipline, or basketball IQ.
Players know how to play basketball generally (of course there are some things you are completely blind to), but it takes a coach to light them up and keep them accountable (read: sampson).

Body builders have lifting coaches (that are always smaller than them) just for yelling at them and pushing them.. we dont have that. Just like the malpractice of BV last year, didn't have a QB coach (or any coach) to pick up Jackson "bust" Arnold after each and every mistake..

To expand on this, I’d guess Mo will have at least 10 games this season where he gets in early foul trouble. That’s a conservative estimate. So basically, in a third of our games, we will either need to play a lot of minutes with a true freshman who isn’t ready, or play small when we already suck on the glass. To go into a season in that situation is ridiculous. And never mind if Mo gets hurt.

If Rogers were an elite freshman, fine. But he will have plenty of games like Saturday, and even in his best games, he will be a guy who you’ll be happy to get a few points and few rebounds. There had to be a serviceable bug in the portal. Not a great one, not someone who would cost a ton. But someone who could competently play 10-15 minutes a game and more in an emergency.

I was disappointed in last night's performance, but I don't think it in any way defines our season going forward (as long as the guys keep working hard to improve).

If we had shot even reasonably well--especially from deep--it would have been a much closer game. And the officiating, which I thought was suspect, really hurt us by putting Wague in early foul trouble. He played, what, five minutes in the first half? And two of those first three fouls were questionable. If he had had played 30 or more minutes, it could have been a very different game--not to say we would have won, but it could have been much more competitive.

Well have to watch random low level D1 teams have plenty of serviceable big men like im forced to do every year with pm.. the question is if we'll even be in the tournament..

Man, some of you are seriously overreacting. We don't know yet if we suck on the glass. We did yesterday. Freaking out over one bad game after we more than held our own against Tech and Wisconsin is extremely premature.

Irony: saying people are overreacting after our first real game against a good opponent while you’ve posted at least five times about our “wins” in fake games. Something tells me that if we go 5-13 in conference, you’ll still be hyping the fake wins.

So we got beat by approximately 150 points in the paint, rebounded like we don’t have anyone over 5 feet tall, and the takeaway is that shooting and (of course) refs are why it was lopsided? Interesting. Also, Gonzaga shot like crap. They could just as easily be saying “gee if we short well we would have won by 30.”

C'mon, guys...it's too early to be in panic mode. Let the season play out a bit. No one is defending the team's play against the Zags...49-30 at halftime!? UGLY...but it's one game. Let's see how we respond.
