GAME 26 - OKLAHOMA (16-9) @ #2 Florida (22-3) 6:00pm CST on ESPN2 (this should go well )

I don't doubt that buzz would be better than Moser. But that isn't a high bar
Making the tourney is great, and I'd absolutely take that right now.
But if we rewind 4 years and if Moser had Buzz' same post season record, I don't think we would be ecstatic.
We would all take mediocracy right now because of our current circumstances.

You smoking crack dude? Buzz’s post season record is WAY better than PM’s. Not even close.

Uh no. He claims we would be upset if we had a Buzz record over the last 4 years. Totally wrong imo. I can read and comprehend btw.
I"m just saying that I don't think we would be satisfied with the post season success (or regular season for that matter) that buzz has had.
Happier than PM? Of course. But still not where we think OU should be

Plus it aligns with Joe C's MO of following up a swing and a miss with a safe bet.
Why would Buzz Williams come to OU? He has a better gig at A&M. Better support, better NIL. He is a north Texas guy that went to OCU, but I don't think those ties would lead him to leave A&M for OU.

He may have come before he went to A&M, but that ship has sailed.

Not sure if you missed @StoopsBros post where the supposed connected trilly discord member said there seems to be very little chance Buzz will be back at A&M next year.

"I don’t know how to say this more emphatically but I would be legitimately shocked if Buzz Williams is the head coach at TAMU come May 1st. "

Why? Poached by another team? They play hard and are winning games

I think you see a lot of the Buzz to IU "buzz" so to speak. Probably sullied waters at Aggies. He knows he has a very senior heavy team and can cash in on his high value now.

That said, he could miss the IU opening, be left with his buzzlet in his hand, and looking for a new role. This opens up the possibility of Buzz to OU or another school like Tech/Zona if some openings happen.

Add the fact that he jumped from Marquette to Va Tech, crazier things have happened. Maybe he wants that connection back to his OCU days as a Star. Who knows?

From the board:
"Buzz doesn’t always need “an upgrade”

I think he has a deeply held personal philosophy that you maximize a job and then you move on while things are at or near the peak.

We’ve seen that more than once - and I think it’s pretty evident he considers himself a builder not a sustainer."

i can't answer why. and playing hard and winning games sounds nice.
But I am guessing A&M is giving him a lot of resources with nothing to really show for it.
If you take out this year, which has been a great year for him (by far his best to date for A&M), he wins at a 60% clip and close to 50% in conference.
AGain, I'd take that in a heart beat but at some point it becomes obvious that he isn't someone to get you over the hump.
In five years, he has won one ncaa game

My daughter is at A&M. I don't keep up too closely with them, other than I know they're having a good season.

Buzz is a unique guy. I like him, but he marches to the beat of his own drummer. For one, he doesn't have an agent. He negotiates his own contracts.

A&M has had some transition in the athletic department. When Trev Alberts came in as AD, they immediately cut a bunch of staff in preparation for NIL.

Not sure about the relationship between Buzz and Trev, but Trev didn't hire him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he left A&M, but he can do better than OU at this point. On the other hand, OU needs to grab him if he's available.

In some ways, Lon Kruger 2.0.

Texags article regarding interest from other schools, especially Indiana. A&M pays Buzz $4.4M/year.

In a world where we do have the funds to pursue non mid-major coaches... who would y'all prefer as head coach?

Buzz Williams
or
Kellen Sampson

I personally would rather take a risk on someone like Kellen Sampson who could potentially be a home run hire if all the pieces are in place.

I have never liked Buzz, and Kelvin is my favorite coach of all time, but I would take Buzz over Kellen a hundred times out of a hundred. I'm not sure why Kellen would be considered any more likely to be a home run than anyone else who shares DNA with a successful coach, and I can't think of many (any?) children of great coaches who went on to have great coaching careers themselves. It's not impossible, but rare for someone who has never been a head coach at any level to get their first job at a P4 school and come in and be immediately successful, especially when they are still fairly young and haven't been exposed to many different experiences. Yes, he has watched his dad up close for a long time, but as coaches always say, when you slide over one chair to the left (or right) and are now the man in charge of everything, both during games and in all aspects of the program, that is a massive jump.
