Doc Sadler (for instance) is a great game coach. He may not be a great recruiter, be he is a great game coach. He outcoached Bill Self earlier this year and nearly beat them. Doc Sadler has complete control during the game. HE decides what players go in and what players come out. He decides when to change defenses, when to call set plays, etc. Marshall, on the other hand, is flamboyant and ethusiastic on the sideline, but from what I have seen (sitting five feet from him), his top assistant determines what players come in and out. I'll be honest, I haven't been to a lot of games, but the few I have seen I him just yell and stop his feet. I actually spent almost an entire game watching him and his coaching (instead of really paying attention to the game). He doesn't switch defenses nearly quick enough when they clearly aren't working (which is one of the few downsides of Bill Self other than his toupee). It just seemed to me when I have watched him that his assistants were doing most of the actual coaching. I want a coach to take control and make important decisions.
