Haith involved in Miami scandal

I just finished reading that.

WOW.

Well say goodbye to the U in football for some time. Hoops too.

And you really have to wonder how Alden is feeling right now. His boy Haith in more than slightly implicated in this mess.

Relax,Mizzou did nothing wrong other than hire a very avg coach who may or may not have bought an overrated player

:ez-roll:

Wasn't Haith a top assistant at Uterus before landing the Miami job???

Seriously, too early to start talking about candidates for Mizzou job? That school and bad decisions. Named an arena after a cheater, and now this. Wow.

Probably too early. I believe Alden's said he's going to wait for the NCAA findings before taking action (I interpreted that as not wanting to fire him now because if he's found to have committed violations we can fire him for free).

At this point the damage has already been done. No matter what Mizzou does, it's a crappy situation. Fire him now and you're going to have to go with an interim coach (no decent coach is going to want to sign up this close to the season). Recruiting's going to be screwed either way. Might as well suffer through it with Haith until things are certain.

I'm still pissed that Alden didn't even bother to talk to Shaka Smart...

That approach gives him some time to research coaches, too.

I have to wonder if the events described at Miami are the norm rather than the exception in college sports.

Haith may get Todd Bozeman'd by the NCAA depending on his level of involvement with the cheating, which would make MU's decision for them. Alden probably should get his short list together.

Having lived in south florida this does not reflect poorly on Haith IMO.

South Florida is cheeseville central. There are wanna be gold chain wearing jock sniffing con men like Nevin Shapiro all around. if Miami ban swingers like this dork they would have no boosters left. Heck there would be no south florida left.

Hey Boca,

Shapiro isn't even a Miami grad. He went to USF. He's a Bull.

Here's what I don't get about his Ponzi scheme: Wasn't anybody suspicious how a guy so young would have as much money as he had? Even the highest profile athletes in the area weren't flashing it like he was.

And the topper, the business plan everyone was investing in: buying ready to expire food from wholesalers and then reselling the crap to countries with less restrictions? OMG, where do I sign up?

That's it, people investing millions in rotten food? I am dubious of any boiler room call I get from Florida but if this one came in, I would have been rolling on the floor. I'm sorry, but one billion dollars raised to export rotten food, food getting ready to go off? That sounds like something the Mafia would try to pull.

At this point I no longer expect Alden to wait. I think this thing will be resolved fairly quickly.
